The History of the XM1014 | Red Python in CS2 (CS:GO)

The XM1014 | Red Python was introduced in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on August 14, 2013, as part of the infamous The eSports 2013 Collection. The skin was created by Valve\'s in-house design team and quickly caught the attention of the community due to its vibrant red-and-black python pattern overlay and minimalist yet aggressive aesthetic. Throughout its early years, the XM1014 | Red Python in CS2 (CS:GO) became a staple for players who preferred cost-effective but visually striking skins, especially with the increasing popularity of weapon skins during the CS:GO Majors.

Although not directly featured in high-profile pro play compared to top-tier rifle or AWP finishes, the skin saw a surge in demand every time shotgun meta changes occurred or when influencers showcased it on streams and videos. The hype peaked during periods when the eSports collections rotated out of drop pools, further raising its collector value. Its seamless transition into Counter-Strike 2 secured its place as a fan favorite; the CS2 (CS:GO) XM1014 | Red Python took on new visual fidelity due to engine improvements, keeping it relevant for both nostalgia-driven and new-generation players.

How Rare Is the XM1014 | Red Python?

The XM1014 | Red Python in CS2 (CS:GO) has a Mil-Spec (blue) rarity, making it more common than high-tier skins, but still a desired collectable for its unique pattern. You can primarily obtain this skin through opening The eSports 2013 Case and The eSports 2013 Winter Case. The CS2 (CS:GO) XM1014 | Red Python is still available on the market, but its removal from active drop pools after those collections rotated out has slightly increased its scarcity, particularly in Factory New and StatTrak variants. The odds for unboxing a StatTrak version are substantially lower than for the standard version, while a Souvenir XM1014 | Red Python does not exist. Despite its relatively accessible rarity, the skin enjoys consistent popularity due to its striking red design and affordable price, resulting in steady trading activity and ongoing appeal among budget-conscious players and collectors alike.
