The History of the ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat was introduced as part of the "A New Horizon" update in August 2018 for CS:GO, later transitioning seamlessly into CS2. The skin was conceptualized by Valve's in-house team, aiming to diversify knife finishes by introducing an industrial, distressed look. Its appearance history began alongside several new knife types, with its blade featuring a patina of brown and blue rust covering the surface, making each knife uniquely worn.

The ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat in CS2 (CS:GO) rose in popularity as fans took to its rugged, realistic visuals, especially during CS:GO Majors where pros showcased it in live matches, fueling community hype. Its status surged within the collector community, drawn by the individual differences in rust patterns and the accessibility compared to ultra-premium knives. As the game transitioned into CS2, the skin retained much of its appeal and continued to enjoy high demand due to its distinctive rust finish and legacy as a fan-favorite among seasoned players and knife enthusiasts. The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat thus stands as a testament to the evolving culture of skin collecting and the ever-present desire for unique cosmetic items within the Counter-Strike franchise.

How Rare Is the ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat?

The ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Covert knife skin, making it a rare drop in the game. The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat is obtainable from Horizon, Danger Zone, and Prisma cases, and has never been removed from drop pools—preserving its presence but keeping its supply controlled. The probability of unboxing this knife from its respective case is less than 1%, rendering it quite elusive. Souvenir versions are not available for this skin, limiting rarity strictly to standard and StatTrak variants. The Rarity of ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat maintains a strong influence on its price and desirability; its unconventional appearance and affordable entry point have made it a popular choice among players seeking rare knife skins without the exceedingly high prices of more iconic knives. This enduring popularity ensures the skin remains a frequent sight in both casual and competitive play.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat finish features a blade covered in muted brown and blue rust, resulting in a rugged, industrial look. No two knives look exactly alike, giving each item a sense of individuality.

Pattern difference
Variations in the rust pattern are noticeable, with some knives appearing more oxidized (bluer) or more corroded (browner), depending on the float.

Effect of float
The ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat float value ranges from 0.40 to 1.00, meaning this skin is only available in Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred conditions. Higher float values give the blade a more intensely rusted appearance, affecting both the look and desirability.

Skin Features
It is available in both standard and ★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat StatTrak™ versions, which track kills and add additional value.

Wear levels explained
Factory New & Minimal Wear
These conditions do not exist for this skin due to its float value constraints.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat Field-Tested
Float: 0.40–0.55
Offers a balanced rust finish between blue and brown. It’s the cleanest version available, often commanding a higher price within this skin’s range.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat Well Worn
Float: 0.55–0.70
Shows a more pronounced rusty look, commonly with bluish hues. This adds character and is appealing to collectors seeking a more distinctive patina.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat Battle-Scarred
Float: 0.70–1.00
This is the most heavily oxidized state, with strong brown and blue corrosion. It is typically the least expensive version but can attract fans of genuinely worn aesthetics.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat StatTrak™
The StatTrak™ version is available for all wear levels, recording confirmed kills. These editions consistently trade for higher prices and are favored by players looking to showcase their kill counts.

★ Ursus Knife | Rust Coat float value and finish
A skin with a lower float leans more towards blue, sometimes fetching increased value among collectors. The finish and float, therefore, play a key role in the market for this skin.
