The History of the ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened was designed by the artist Valve Corporation, known for creating the distinctive knife models in CS:GO. Its iconic "Case Hardened" finish, characterized by a swirl of blue, gold, and purple colors, was introduced to the skin pool with the release of the Danger Zone Case in August 2018, during CS:GO's "A New Horizon" update.

Initially, the skin's appeal centered on the unpredictable spreads of color unique to each pattern index, making some variants (especially "blue gems") instant community legends. The ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) surged in popularity during major tournaments, often featured in professional players' inventories. Community hype reached its peak as collectors sought extremely rare patterns, and clips of people unboxing "blue gem" variants went viral on social platforms.

With the arrival of Counter-Strike 2, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened retained its desirability, enhanced by upgraded lighting and textures in the Source 2 engine. Its reputation as a classic, investment-worthy skin remains, continuing to captivate both veterans and newcomers to the game.

How Rare Is the ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened?

The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened is classified as a Covert rarity skin and is available as a rare special item in the Horizon Case and Danger Zone Case. The probability of unboxing a ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) is extremely low—estimated at under 1% per case, consistent with other knives. No Souvenir ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened variant exists, so all available examples come from standard unboxing.

As time has passed, both the Horizon and Danger Zone Cases have become less frequently opened, indirectly increasing the rarity and value of the knife. The skin is popular for its unique finish, and certain pattern indexes (notably "blue gems") are exceptionally scarce and command much higher prices. The rarity of ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened is shaped by the ever-decreasing supply and the relentless demand from collectors and enthusiasts in the Counter-Strike 2 skin market.
