The History of the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic in CS2 (CS:GO)

The SSG 08 | Green Ceramic in CS2 (CS:GO) skin was designed by community artist OniLolz and originally debuted on March 31, 2020, as part of the "Prisma 2 Collection" for CS:GO. Its launch occurred during a period of heightened demand for distinctive and vibrant weapon finishes. The skin immediately attracted attention for its unique ceramic-tile-inspired green and white motif, setting it apart from more common camouflage or metallic designs. It gained popularity during subsequent CS:GO Majors, as neither players nor viewers could miss its unmistakable style in live matches or highlight reels.

As the skin gained traction, community hype swelled, particularly during periods of increased drop activity and when the Prisma 2 case became a topic among skin traders and collectors. With the transition to CS2, the CS2 (CS:GO) SSG 08 | Green Ceramic found renewed appreciation as updated lighting and shaders enhanced its green and white palette, making it even more visually appealing in-game. While it’s never been the rarest or most expensive SSG 08 skin, its distinctive design and backstory keep it in high demand among both general players and serious skin collectors.

How Rare Is the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic?

The SSG 08 | Green Ceramic in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a "Mil-Spec Grade" (blue) skin, making it among the more common rifle skins but still sought after for its eye-catching pattern. It is available via the Prisma 2 Case, which remains one of the most widely opened cases since its release. The CS2 (CS:GO) SSG 08 | Green Ceramic has not been removed from active drop pools, ensuring a steady supply on the market and slightly reducing its rarity compared to discontinued items.

The probability of unboxing a "Mil-Spec" skin from a Prisma 2 Case is about one in five, though getting a specific skin like the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic is lower due to multiple Mil-Spec finishes being available. There is no Souvenir edition of this skin, so odds for a pro-autographed version do not apply. Despite its relative abundance, the rarity of SSG 08 | Green Ceramic stems from its unique design within its grade, making it quite popular among economy-conscious players.
