The History of the SSG 08 | Death's Head in CS2 (CS:GO)

The SSG 08 | Death's Head in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by community artist G-99Factory. First appearing in August 2018 as part of the Horizon Case in CS:GO, its eye-catching skull motifs and turquoise hues quickly earned attention. Its signature artwork, featuring a menacing skull, made the SSG 08 | Death's Head an instant standout among new sniper skins released that year. The skin's popularity surged during key CS:GO Major tournaments, as high-level pros occasionally showcased it during broadcasts, sparking increased community discourse and market activity. The hype around the CS2 (CS:GO) SSG 08 | Death's Head was further fueled by YouTubers and streamers, who praised its unique design and affordable price point compared to other rare sniper rifle skins. Its seamless transition into CS2 maintained its wide appeal, with the skin retained in the active drop pool, ensuring continued accessibility and use among the new wave of players. Today, SSG 08 | Death's Head remains a celebrated skin for both casual fans and competitive players thanks to its origin story, tournament exposure, and enduring design appeal.

How Rare Is the SSG 08 | Death's Head?

The rarity of SSG 08 | Death's Head in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as Restricted, making it a relatively rare drop among SSG 08 finishes. It can be obtained exclusively from the Horizon Case, making it unavailable from most standard drop pools—a fact that has gradually increased its scarcity and desirability. CS2 (CS:GO) SSG 08 | Death's Head is not available as a Souvenir version, narrowing access further. The probability of unboxing a Restricted skin from any case is about 15%, but the odds of landing the SSG 08 | Death's Head specifically are even slimmer, making each unboxing a sought-after moment for collectors. Its absence from later case collections and solid demand among fans mean availability steadily decreases over time, helping the skin maintain its competitive market value and niche popularity.
