The History of the ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO)

★ Shadow Daggers | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) were introduced with the Shadow Case update on September 17, 2015, designed by Valve’s in-house art team, well-known for their iconic Fade finish. The Fade pattern originated on pistols such as the Glock-18, but its application on the dual Shadow Daggers quickly captured the community’s attention due to its striking blend of metallic purples, pinks, and yellows. Early on, the skin’s appeal soared when pro players began equipping them at high-profile CS:GO Majors, making them a highlight in case-opening videos and livestreams. Community hype was especially vibrant during the first few months after release, as well as during periods when Shadow Daggers animations trended on social media. With the arrival of CS2, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade experienced renewed popularity thanks to improved material rendering and lighting, further emphasizing their gradient brilliance. Today, these daggers maintain their allure both for their aesthetics and history as one of the most celebrated Fade-patterned knives available in Counter-Strike.

How Rare Is the ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade?

The ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) are a Covert rarity skin, making them among the rarest knife drops in the game. They can be found exclusively in the Shadow Case, which was introduced in 2015 and is still available for opening. CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade have never been removed from drop pools, but the odds of unboxing a knife from any case are notoriously low: under 1%. The Rarity of ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade is heightened by the popularity of the Fade finish, leading to a high demand and premium market value. There are no Souvenir versions of this skin, and with no direct odds for Souvenir daggers, unboxing one in pristine condition is exceptionally rare. Their ongoing popularity is fueled by their dynamic color scheme and the unique Shadow Daggers animation, making them a top choice for knife collectors.

★ Shadow Daggers | Fade Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description: The ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade finish features a chrome base with a gradient blend of purple, pink, and gold, varying in percentage from dagger to dagger. Pattern difference: The proportion of each color—especially how much gold ('full fade') appears—is determined by the pattern index, making some patterns more desirable and valuable. Effect of float: The ★ Shadow Daggers | Fade float value ranges from 0.00 to 0.08, meaning only Factory New and Minimal Wear conditions exist—no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred versions drop.
★ Shadow Daggers | Fade factory new: These display the richest and cleanest gradient with minimal to zero scratches. Priced at a premium, they appeal to collectors chasing perfection and the coveted 'full fade'.
★ Shadow Daggers | Fade minimal wear: Barely distinguishable from Factory New, but may exhibit tiny imperfections on close inspection. Prices are slightly lower, yet they offer great value for those wanting near-pristine knife skins.
★ Shadow Daggers | Fade Field Tested, Well Worn, and Battle Scarred: These wear tiers do not exist for this skin due to the restricted float range, making high-wear versions impossible to obtain.
★ Shadow Daggers | Fade StatTrak: Available in both Factory New and Minimal Wear, they track kills and cost significantly more than their regular counterparts.
Skin Features: High pattern variability, exceptional fade gradient, and availability in StatTrak™ versions only in the two best wear levels. Players often pay extra for StatTrak, as well as high-percentage gold fades and desirable float values, making these features central to their collector appeal.
