The History of the SG 553 | Waves Perforated in CS2 (CS:GO)

The SG 553 | Waves Perforated was introduced as part of the CS:GO “The Arms Deal” update released on August 14, 2013. Designed by Valve’s in-house art team, it carries an industrial vibe with its metallic base and signature wave-like perforations. The skin became a common sight in early tournaments, especially during the first years of the CS:GO Majors, as it was accessible from The Safehouse, Lake, and Italy collections. The rise of the CS2 (CS:GO) SG 553 | Waves Perforated can be attributed to its presence in community maps during high-profile events, which increased its exposure and popularity. While flashier skins would eventually grab the spotlight, Waves Perforated remained a go-to option for budget-conscious players and collectors aiming to complete older collections. As CS:GO transitioned to CS2, the skin retained its familiar look and remained sought after for its nostalgia and affordable rarity. SG 553 | Waves Perforated in CS2 (CS:GO) continues to be appreciated for its classic, no-nonsense design and links to the early competitive scene.

How Rare Is the SG 553 | Waves Perforated?

The rarity of SG 553 | Waves Perforated in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as Industrial Grade (light blue), making it relatively common. This skin can be found in The Lake, The Safehouse, and The Italy Collections, which could drop during standard gameplay or via collection packages in the past. The CS2 (CS:GO) SG 553 | Waves Perforated was never included in standard weapon cases, but it was also not removed from its original drop pools, which impacts its steady supply. In terms of unboxing odds, its Industrial Grade status means a much higher probability compared to rarer skins. There is no Souvenir version available, which limits chances for ultra-rare autographed variants. Despite its commonality, the popularity of this skin is stable, especially for those building themed or retro inventories.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description: The SG 553 | Waves Perforated finish uses a metallic base coated with gray paint, interrupted by distinctive perforated wave patterns along the surface. This design enhances the industrial look without wild colors, making each skin subdued and consistent.

Pattern difference: The appearance of the SG 553 | Waves Perforated finish is uniform, and pattern index differences are negligible—every item closely resembles the next.

Effect of float: The SG 553 | Waves Perforated float value ranges from 0.06 to 0.80, allowing it to be found in all five standard wear levels. The SG 553 | Waves Perforated finish shows more wear as float increases, revealing scratches and faded paint, especially at high floats.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Factory New: The Factory New version features an unblemished surface with crisp wave perforations, and the metallic paint is sharp overall. As one of the more desirable conditions, the price is slightly higher, but due to its Industrial rarity, even Factory New stays affordable.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Minimal Wear: With a small amount of abrasion, SG 553 | Waves Perforated Minimal Wear maintains much of its pristine feel, making it a popular choice for value-conscious buyers. Scratches are minor and only noticeable upon close inspection.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Field-Tested: Field-Tested skins show clear signs of wear, especially on high-contact surfaces, with the finish starting to fade. Balanced between price and condition, it’s an accessible version for most players.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Well Worn: The Well Worn level shows significant scratches, exposing more of the base gun below. This heavily used look can appeal to players seeking a battle-hardened vibe, with lower prices than the less worn levels.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated Battle Scarred: The Battle Scarred version has the most abrasion, with a faded, almost weathered metallic finish. Priced the lowest, it’s ideal for budget inventories or players who appreciate distressed aesthetics.

SG 553 | Waves Perforated StatTrak™: For users who want to track kills, the StatTrak versions are available in all float values. The additional counter increases the value slightly, and these items appeal to collectors interested in customizing their play stats. The presence of StatTrak can sometimes double the price over a vanilla version, depending on the market.

Skin Features: All versions maintain the simple, industrial theme, with float accounting for variances in wear and price.
