The History of the Nova | Marsh Grass in CS2 (CS:GO)

The Nova | Marsh Grass was originally designed by Valve’s in-house art team and first appeared in the game as part of The Lake Collection, which launched alongside Operation Payback in 2013. The Lake Collection presented skins inspired by real-world outdoor environments, and Nova | Marsh Grass immediately stood out for its camouflage-style green and tan finish. Throughout the years, Nova | Marsh Grass in CS2 (CS:GO) gained a steady following, especially during early CS:GO Majors, when lower-tier skins were common picks for casual and pro players alike.

CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Marsh Grass never received the hype and fame of legendary covert skins, but it developed a reputation as a workhorse favorite among veterans, especially those who reveled in budget loadouts or nostalgia-driven inventories. Community appreciation peaked during Operation drops and the rise of themed loadouts centering on realism and military aesthetics. As CS2 launched and embraced map-based collections, the Nova | Marsh Grass maintained its consistent popularity, being seen as a nod to Counter-Strike’s heritage and a staple in eco rounds and casual matches.

How Rare Is the Nova | Marsh Grass?

Nova | Marsh Grass in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade (light blue) skin, making it one of the more common drops in the game. CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Marsh Grass can be found in The Lake Collection, which notably does not drop from weapon cases but is obtainable through map drops or souvenir packages tied to events on Lake. The rarity of Nova | Marsh Grass means it is widely accessible, and the skin has never been removed from the active drop pool, ensuring stable supply over the years.

Souvenir Nova | Marsh Grass is available from souvenir packages awarded during weekend tournaments played on the map Lake, though it is considerably rarer than its regular counterpart and carries additional value when adorned with pro player autographs. The odds of unboxing a Souvenir variant remain low, as with most souvenir drops, but the regular Nova | Marsh Grass remains one of the most accessible shotgun skins in the game. Despite its commonality, it retains popularity among new players, budget collectors, and those completing themed sets.

Nova | Marsh Grass Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern Description: The Nova | Marsh Grass finish features a camouflage pattern in olive, brown, and tan colors, designed to mimic the grass and foliage typically found in marshland environments. Each skin’s pattern index alters the exact appearance, giving subtle but unique layout differences between individual drops.

Nova | Marsh Grass float value ranges from 0.06 to 0.80, enabling it to be found in all five standard CS2 wear conditions.

Nova | Marsh Grass Factory New: This variant offers the sharpest definition, with crisp colors and minimal wear. Nova | Marsh Grass Factory New tends to command a slight premium in the market due to perfect finish and rarity, but remains quite affordable.

Nova | Marsh Grass Minimal Wear: With only minor edge wear and slight fading on prominent surfaces, Nova | Marsh Grass Minimal Wear still maintains a clean look, making it a popular and practical alternative to Factory New at a lower price point.

Nova | Marsh Grass Field Tested: This version exhibits visible abrasions and slight discoloration, especially along the barrel and grip. Nova | Marsh Grass Field Tested is often the cheapest version and a staple for budget-conscious players.

Nova | Marsh Grass Well Worn: The Nova | Marsh Grass Well Worn finish displays pronounced scratches and further fading, appealing to collectors who enjoy a battle-hardened look.

Nova | Marsh Grass Battle Scarred: In this condition, colors are muted and abrasions dominate much of the surface. Nova | Marsh Grass Battle Scarred often appears heavily used and is usually the least expensive.

Nova | Marsh Grass StatTrak™: StatTrak™ versions are not available for the Nova | Marsh Grass finish. Players looking to track kills must opt for other Nova skins.

Overall, the Nova | Marsh Grass finish does not display dramatic pattern differences, but float values noticeably affect color vibrancy and wear visibility. Prices remain consistently low across all conditions, making this skin easy to collect.
