What is the Nova | Hyper Beast?

The Nova | Hyper Beast is one of the more ambitious designs in the Hyper Beast family. It’s built around a surreal, neon-colored monster twisting across the shotgun’s long, narrow body. Behind the entire Hyper Beast line, a Canadian artist, Brock Hofer, had the challenge of adapting his vibrant, chaotic style to an unusually stretched shape compared to rifles or pistols.

The Nova | Hyper Beast was released on February 17, 2016, as part of the Operation Wildfire Collection, tied to the Wildfire Case. It’s a Classified-tier drop and comes in all five wear levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. The float range caps at 0.60, so the design stays visible across all conditions, especially since most of the wear happens around the edges, while the creature holds its shape well.

The History of the Nova | Hyper Beast in CS2 (CS:GO)

The Nova | Hyper Beast joined the game during Operation Wildfire. The Hyper Beast line includes 4 skins: AWP, M4A1-S, Nova, and Five-SeveN. All of them were created by Brock Hofer, whose style leans toward bright color blends and twisted, surreal creatures. His designs often focus on wide mouths, glowing eyes, and layered shapes that feel alive. The Nova’s long, narrow shape gave him a new challenge, but the artwork still holds the same kind of pressure.

At that time, the Hyper Beast series already had a reputation thanks to the AWP and M4A1-S versions. Adding the design to the Nova gave players a new way to enjoy the same monster artwork on a cheaper shotgun. It was the third skin released in the Hyper Beast family, with the Five-SeveN later becoming the fourth.

Over the years, the CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Hyper Beast has appeared in the inventories of several pro players, like s1mple, AdreN, and arya. It’s rarely seen in top-level competitive matches due to the shotgun’s role, but that hasn’t stopped it from holding long-term appeal. Today, with four total Hyper Beast skins in the game, the Nova version continues to be a favorite for players.

How Rare Is the Nova | Hyper Beast?

The Nova | Hyper Beast is one of the more well-known shotgun skins in CS2. It holds Classified rarity, which places it above most other Nova skins in drop tier. The chance of unboxing a Classified skin from a case like Operation Wildfire Case is around 3.2%, which drops even lower if you’re looking for a StatTrak version.

Another factor that affects its rarity is affordability. There are many Nova | Hyper Beast skins available under $20, especially in wear levels like Field-Tested or Well-Worn. This lower price makes it more accessible to casual players, which means more copies of the skin are in circulation compared to high-end Classified skins.

Visually, it also holds up well across wear levels. The beast’s body tends to remain intact even as the other weapon shows wear, especially at higher float values. Because it only goes up to a float of 0.60, you won’t find it in extreme Battle-Scarred conditions.

Nova | Hyper Beast Wear Levels and Conditions

The Nova | Hyper Beast has a wear range from 0.00 to 0.60, which means it’s available in all five standard conditions: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. Factory New falls between 0.00 and 0.07 and keeps the artwork the most vibrant and detailed. Minimal Wear ranges from 0.07 to 0.15, with only light scuffing that doesn’t affect the overall look.

Field-Tested, from 0.15 to 0.38, shows more surface wear but still holds onto the skin’s color and detail. Well-Worn starts at 0.38 and goes up to 0.45, with more noticeable fading, and Battle-Scarred finishes the range from 0.45 to 0.60, showing the heaviest wear. Even in lower conditions, the Hyper Beast design stays recognizable, which makes it a popular choice no matter what float you end up with.

You can also find StatTrak versions across every wear level. These versions track your kills and are often priced higher due to their added visual and collector appeal. No matter Factory New StatTrak or a more budget-friendly Field-Tested one, the Hyper Beast keeps its identity and appeal regardless of condition.

Nova | Hyper Beast Price & Market Value

The Nova | Hyper Beast is not the cheapest Nova skin, but it’s still affordable for most players who want something more detailed in their loadout. Prices change based on wear level, float value, and whether the skin includes StatTrak. Factory New versions usually fall between $30 and $40, while Minimal Wear hovers around $20 to $30. Field-Tested drops to about $15 to $20, and Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred versions are often available for under $16.

If you’re looking at StatTrak versions, the price goes up slightly across all conditions. Factory New StatTrak can cost over $70, especially if it includes pro team stickers or good float value. Minimal Wear StatTrak stays in the $40 to $50 range, and Field-Tested lands closer to $20 to $30.

Other details like float value and rare sticker combinations can also raise the price, especially if the skin has tournament stickers from older events or is part of a themed inventory. The Hyper Beast has stayed relevant due to its layered design, neon color palette, and continued demand among players who enjoy detailed skin collections.

Why is Nova | Hyper Beast So Popular?

Nova | Hyper Beast is popular because of the bright, neon color scheme and surreal monster artwork that covers the shotgun from end to end. Designed by artist Brock Hofer, this version brings the iconic Hyper Beast style to one of the cheapest weapons in CS2. The mix of blues, purples, greens, and reds gives it a wild and chaotic look that feels more intense than most other Nova skins.

What also helps is how well it pairs with certain gloves and stickers. Gloves like the Sport Gloves | Pandora’s Box, Hand Wraps | Slaughter, or Moto Gloves | Blood Pressure all match the high-energy color palette. Stickers like Crown (Foil), Harp of War (Holo), or even team logos with purple and blue tones can add extra character to the weapon.

What Is the Souvenir Nova | Hyper Beast

There is no souvenir version for the Nova | Hyper Beast in CS2 (CS:GO). Souvenir skins are special items dropped during major CS:GO tournaments and usually feature pro player autograph stickers and event branding. As Nova | Hyper Beast was never included in souvenir packages, there are no record-holding or autograph-laden versions commemorating pro matches for this skin. All available versions of Nova | Hyper Beast are regular or StatTrak™ only, making its pursuit focused entirely on standard market supply.

Famous Players & Streamers with Nova | Hyper Beast

While the Nova | Hyper Beast has not been a primary weapon for most tier-one esports professionals, it remains a favorite among streamers and casual pro players who enjoy unique inventory collections. Prominent content creators such as Anomaly and OhnePixel have showcased or used the skin in inventory reviews and gameplay videos, boosting its popularity among fans. The skin’s captivating design and affordable market price make it a common sight in many public lobbies and highlight reels. Its association with content creators has led to continued community interest and stable demand on the marketplace.

Alternatives to Nova | Hyper Beast

If you like the Hyper Beast design but want to use it on a different weapon, there are plenty of options within the same skin family. The AWP | Hyper Beast is probably the most popular version. It takes the same intense, colorful creature artwork and applies it to one of the most iconic rifles in CS2, giving your sniper loadout a striking and detailed look.

Another good option is the M4A1-S | Hyper Beast. Though it’s for a different weapon class, it shares the same vibrant color mix and twisted design, making it a natural fit for players who prefer silenced rifles. You also have the option to go with the Five-SeveN | Hyper Beast, which lets you carry the same art style into pistol rounds. It’s smaller in scale but still stays true to the original theme.

Also, the AWP | Hyper Beast is one of the most detailed in the set. The long shape of the AWP gives more room for the design to stretch, so the colors and creature artwork feel more intense. It's often used by players who like a bit of personality on their sniper and prefer skins that stand apart from the usual dark or factory-style options.

How to Get a Nova | Hyper Beast

You can get the CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Hyper Beast skin in a few different ways, but some methods are much riskier and more expensive than others. The traditional way is to open the Operation Wildfire Case, which is where this iconic shotgun skin was originally released. Since this case is no longer in active drop rotation, it usually costs more than newer cases. On top of that, you’ll need to buy both the case and a matching key, raising the total cost. Even after spending all that, there’s no guarantee you’ll get the Nova | Hyper Beast, you’ll most likely end up with a low-value skin instead.

Another method is using a CS2 trade-up contract with 10 Restricted skins from the Wildfire Collection. While this guarantees a Classified skin, it doesn’t guarantee the Nova | Hyper Beast, as there are several other Classified skins in the same set. It also requires collecting the right skins and doing careful calculations to avoid overpaying. In many cases, the total cost ends up being higher than simply buying the skin outright.

The fastest, safest, and most reliable way to get the CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Hyper Beast skin is to buy it directly. While the Steam Market offers this option, prices are often inflated due to high fees, and you have limited control over choosing specific versions like Factory New, StatTrak, or rare float values. That’s why third-party marketplaces like Skin.Place: It's the best place to buy CS2 (CS:GO) skins. On Skin.Place, you can compare prices, select the exact condition and features you want, and get the skin instantly, without the risks or extra costs. For players looking to upgrade their loadout with a legendary design, buying directly from Skin.Place is the smartest, most affordable way to add the Nova | Hyper Beast CS2 skin to your collection today.

Final Thoughts for Collectors and Players

Its design pushes beyond the usual expectations for a low-cost weapon, turning the Nova into a canvas for vivid color and surreal creature art. Brock Hofer’s vision transformed a common shotgun into a skin that feels intense and layered, with a visual style that’s hard to ignore.

For collectors, it’s part of a well-known skin family with real visual weight. For players, it brings detailed, striking artwork to rounds that would otherwise feel plain.
