The History of the Nova | Dark Sigil in CS2 (CS:GO)

Nova | Dark Sigil in CS2 (CS:GO) was created by artist Teo~ and introduced as part of the Anubis Collection on April 24, 2023, coinciding with the Road to Paris Major update. This skin quickly garnered attention for its detailed sigil pattern painted on a dark matte background, giving the Nova an aura of mystique.

The CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Dark Sigil experienced a surge in popularity after several professional players showcased it during the 2023 Paris Major, further cementing its reputation as an iconic addition to the Nova lineup. Its presence in tournament gameplay contributed to increased hype in the Counter-Strike community, as streamers and esports fans sought to add the Dark Sigil to their inventories.

Since its initial release in CS:GO, the Nova | Dark Sigil made a seamless transition into Counter-Strike 2, retaining its allure with updated lighting and graphics in the new game engine. The skin continues to be a popular and affordable choice among both casual and dedicated players in CS2, aided by its distinctive design and ongoing community engagement.

How Rare Is the Nova | Dark Sigil?

Nova | Dark Sigil in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade skin—the second most common rarity—making it relatively accessible compared to higher-tier finishes. CS2 (CS:GO) Nova | Dark Sigil can primarily be obtained via the Anubis Collection Package, which was introduced during the Paris Major 2023 event. Rarity of Nova | Dark Sigil is not as high as Covert or Classified skins, but its unique appearance boosts its desirability.

The drop odds for this skin from the Anubis Collection Package are considerably higher than rare finishes, and no Souvenir versions exist for this skin—which impacts long-term rarity potential. It remains obtainable via trading or purchasing on the Steam Community Market. The popularity of Nova | Dark Sigil is consistently high due to its low barrier to entry, attractive design, and frequency in trade rotations—making it a staple shotgun skin within the game.

Nova | Dark Sigil Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description: The Nova | Dark Sigil finish showcases intricate occult symbols in muted silver tones set against a matte gunmetal black base, creating a haunted, ancient feel. There is no noteworthy pattern difference—the design remains largely consistent, regardless of pattern index.

Effect of float: The Nova | Dark Sigil float value ranges between 0.00 and 0.60, allowing the skin to drop in all five standard wear levels, plus StatTrak™ variants.

Nova | Dark Sigil factory new: In Factory New, the finish is pristine, with crisp detailing and deep coloration. These versions are typically the most desirable and tend to command the highest prices.

Nova | Dark Sigil minimal wear: Slightly muted from Factory New, Minimal Wear versions show only minor edge abrasions but retain clean lines and full artwork.

Nova | Dark Sigil Field Tested: As float increases, Field-Tested versions show more visible scratches and light wear along the midsection, but the sigil remains identifiable.

Nova | Dark Sigil well worn: Well-Worn examples have more pronounced fading and increased surface marks, especially around high-contact areas, giving a weathered look prized by some collectors.

Nova | Dark Sigil Battle Scarred: Battle-Scarred skins display the highest level of wear with considerable fading and scratches; the sigil pattern may appear blurred, but the unique aesthetic appeals to fans of distressed looks.

Nova | Dark Sigil StatTrak: StatTrak™ versions are available across all wear levels. These variants track kill counts and are more valuable among stat-tracking players and collectors.

Prices fluctuate based on float value, condition, and the presence of StatTrak™, with Factory New and StatTrak™ Nova | Dark Sigil commanding premium prices due to their appeal and rarity.
