The History of the Negev | Desert-Strike in CS2 (CS:GO)

Negev | Desert-Strike in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by The Honey Badger, a well-known artist within the Counter-Strike skin community.

The skin was first introduced on June 11, 2014, as part of the Operation Breakout Weapon Case during the early days of CS:GO. Its striking tactical look—a blend of sandy beige, carbon black, and digital camo graphics—immediately set it apart from other machine gun offerings of the time. Throughout several CS:GO Majors, the skin gained exposure as players looking for cost-effective loadout options frequently featured it, sparking community hype, especially when budget strategies dominated the meta.

The design’s rugged aesthetic quickly resonated, becoming a mainstay among fans who appreciate a military vibe. As the franchise transitioned from CS:GO to CS2, the CS2 (CS:GO) Negev | Desert-Strike retained its spot in active weapon pools and continued to appeal to both new players and veterans. Its legacy is evident by its frequent appearance in competitive games and its status as a staple for anyone seeking affordable yet distinctive firepower.

How Rare Is the Negev | Desert-Strike?

Negev | Desert-Strike in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Restricted rarity skin, making it a somewhat uncommon find compared to more common grades, yet still accessible. The CS2 (CS:GO) Negev | Desert-Strike is a drop from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, which remains purchasable on the marketplace but was removed from active drop pools—slightly limiting natural supply over time.

Rarity of Negev | Desert-Strike: As a Restricted skin, your odds of unboxing it are moderate compared to Mil-Spec or Covert items. There is no Souvenir Negev | Desert-Strike version, which affects its collectibility and secondary market pricing. Its moderate popularity assures a healthy supply and demand, and the probability of unboxing remains stable among case openers and skin traders looking for attractive, budget-friendly options.

Priced affordably, this version has only minor abrasions, retaining crispness in pattern and color.

Negev | Desert-Strike Field-Tested

Noticeable scratches and a dull finish are present, but the overall camo pattern remains intact. Good for players who prefer a heavily used look on a budget.

Negev | Desert-Strike Battle Scarred
Significant wear, bulk scratches, and muted color dominate this cheapest tier. The design is still recognizable, but much more faded.

Negev | Desert-Strike StatTrak™
StatTrak™ versions track frags and are available at every wear level. These command higher prices, especially in lower wear, and appeal to collectors who enjoy seeing their in-game kill stats.
