The History of the MP9 | Old Roots in CS2 (CS:GO)

The MP9 | Old Roots in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by community artist Mad Factory and was introduced to the game in August 2022 as part of The 2022 Dust II Collection. Its appearance is defined by intricate root and branch patterns laser-engraved into the body, reflecting the resilience and ancient spirit that "Old Roots" suggests. The skin quickly became visible on the scene during CS:GO Major events where Dust II was part of the active pool, often featured in streamer videos and pro match highlights. This increased its notability in the wider skin community. As hype around classic map collections grew—particularly during major esports moments in 2022 and 2023—the CS2 (CS:GO) MP9 | Old Roots saw a spike in demand, driven by nostalgia and the appeal of organic, natural designs. With the transition from CS:GO to CS2, the MP9 | Old Roots carried over seamlessly, benefiting from the upgraded lighting and graphical enhancements in CS2, which helped its engraved motifs stand out even more. This ensured the skin remained sought after, both among new players discovering it for the first time and veteran collectors looking to expand their Dust II-themed inventories.

How Rare Is the MP9 | Old Roots?

The MP9 | Old Roots in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade skin, meaning it is relatively common compared to rarer finishes. The CS2 (CS:GO) MP9 | Old Roots can be obtained from The 2022 Dust II Collection package. Since it is not part of the regular weapon case drops and instead tied to a specific collection, its availability is closely linked to the fate of the Dust II Collection in the loot rotation. At this time, the skin is still accessible, but if the collection is retired, its supply could become limited, possibly increasing the Rarity of MP9 | Old Roots. The odds of unboxing a specific industrial-grade skin are higher than more exotic finishes, and there is currently no Souvenir version of MP9 | Old Roots, so its odds are strictly tied to the basic drop pool. Despite being common, its striking design ensures steady popularity in the community.

MP9 | Old Roots Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description:
The MP9 | Old Roots finish showcases dark brown and olive colors with intricate, engraved root and wood patterns covering the frame. Each skin looks generally the same, as the pattern index does not affect the design significantly.

Effect of float:
The MP9 | Old Roots float value ranges from 0.00 to 0.50, making it available in all conditions: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. As float increases, scratches and wear become more visible, especially along the body and grip.

Wear Levels Explained:
Factory New: The MP9 | Old Roots factory new version offers the cleanest presentation, with crisp engravings and minimal wear. Price is generally higher for this rarest condition.

Minimal Wear: The MP9 | Old Roots minimal wear comes with faint surface abrasions, but the intricate design is well preserved. It's a popular choice for those seeking a balance between price and appearance.

Field-Tested: The MP9 | Old Roots Field Tested shows moderate wear, with edges and raised surfaces losing some detail. Prices drop noticeably in this condition.

Well-Worn: The MP9 | Old Roots well worn reveals heavy scratching and fading, especially on frequently gripped areas. This version is budget-friendly for players just wanting the design.

Battle-Scarred: MP9 | Old Roots Battle Scarred is marked by strong abrasions and duller tones, but the pattern remains distinct.

StatTrak™ versions: The MP9 | Old Roots StatTrak variant is available in all wear levels. MP9 | Old Roots StatTrak skins track kills and are more expensive due to this feature.

Pattern Difference: All MP9 | Old Roots finish patterns look similar, and visual changes between patterns are minimal.
