What Is the MP9 | Hot Rod?

MP9 | Hot Rod is well-known for its "Anodized" style and sleek, metallic design, featuring a chrome base that gives it a distinctive, classic, fiery aesthetic. As one of the first CS:GO skins, Hot Rod is a legendary finish with a unique color scheme.

Valve introduced that submachine gun skin to CS2 (originally CS:GO) on November 27, 2013, as part of The Mirage Collection, which was released alongside the "Out with the old, in with the new" update.

CS2 (CS:GO) MP9 | Hot Rod skin is available in a float range from 0.00 to 0.08, presenting it in two wear conditions: Factory New and Minimal Wear. Such a small float range affects the rarity of the submachine gun skin and the number of offers on the market.

The History of the MP9 | Hot Rod in CS2 (CS:GO)

MP9 | Hot Rod was launched in the game at the beginning of skins' history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. That submachine gun skin is included in 13 containers:

Atlanta 2017 Mirage Souvenir Package

Berlin 2019 Mirage Souvenir Package

Boston 2018 Mirage Souvenir Package

Cologne 2016 Mirage Souvenir Package

DreamHack 2014 Mirage Souvenir Package

DreamHack Cluj-Napoca 2015 Mirage Souvenir Package

ESL One Cologne 2014 Mirage Souvenir Package

Krakow 2017 Mirage Souvenir Package

London 2018 Mirage Souvenir Package

MLG Columbus 2016 Mirage Souvenir Package

Hot Rod offers a futuristic design with minimal signs of wear, which could be a reason for its high price. For example, the average cost of MP9 | Hot Rod for Factory New wear level is $220. The price of the Minimal Wear level with a float range of 0.079 and an insignificant number of scratches could be much higher (more than $1.000). However, it is in the inventories of such pro players as coldzera, device, and kennyS.

How Rare Is the MP9 | Hot Rod?

CS2 (CS:GO) MP9 | Hot Rod is a Mil-Spec Grade rarity tier skin, which is one of the lowest tiers. The official drop odds for any Mil-Spec Grade skin through the case opening is 79.92%. Still, that skin offers the status of an old-school weapon customization system, which makes it more valuable as it has the same rarity finishes.

The critical detail is the lack of the StatTrack system. Hot Rod comes in two versions: standard and Souvenir. Souvenir versions of CS2 (CS:GO) skins are usually much more valuable and costlier than standard finishes. The reason lies in the fact that you can get that version of the skin only during major esports events sponsored by Valve. Each Souvenir skin includes a special design with pro players' signatures that reference memorable tournaments and games.

Also, the essential part of getting a Souvenir version is the different drop odds in contrast to the chance of getting a skin from common weapon cases. The probability of unboxing a Souvenir MP9 | Hot Rod is around 3.2%. The reason for this difference in odds lies in the fact that Souvenir Packages have a broader rarity spectrum, including Consumer Grade and Industrial Grade skins, and the absence of the CS2 (CS:GO) Knives.

Here, we provided a detailed table with approximate drop odds for Souvenir skins for a better understanding:

Rarity | Odds | Estimation
Consumer | 80% | 4 in 5
Industrial | 16% | 1 in 6
Mil-Spec | 3.2% | 1 in 31
Restricted | 0.64% | 1 in 156
Classified | 0.12% | 1 in 781
Covert | 0.0256% | 1 in 3906

MP9 | Hot Rod Wear Levels and Conditions

MP9 | Hot Rod is one of the CS2 (CS:GO) skins available only in two wear conditions: Factory New and Minimal Wear. For better understanding, we provide the detailed table with wear conditions and float value for that submachine gun skin:

Factory New: 0.00 — 0.07

Minimal Wear: 0.07 — 0.08

The lowest float value indicates the highest quality of the MP9 | Hot Rod, which is 0.00, corresponding to a Factory New wear level. The first scratches appear already at 0.03 float value. The worst wear level is Minimal Wear with a 0.08 float value. Still, it has a minimum of scratches on different places of the submachine gun. Mostly, these scratches aren't noticeable due to the low range of float.

MP9 | Hot Rod Price & Market Value

The MP9 | Hot Rod price depends on several factors, including float value, wear condition, sticker availability, and Souvenir variants. The standard version of the submachine gun in the Factory New wear level value ranges from $192 to $275 and from $200 to $ 1.327 for the Minimal Wear condition.

The price of the Souvenir version of MP9 | Hot Rod is in the same range: $190 - $300 for Factory New condition and $180 - $370 for Minimal Wear condition. The final cost depends mainly on the platform where you purchase the skin, the fees, and the availability of local deposit methods.

Why Is MP9 | Hot Rod So Popular?

MP9 | Hot Rod is highly popular due to its distinctive, clean, and vibrant metallic red "Anodized" finish over a chrome base. One more reason lies in its minimal availability due to the low chance of getting the skin only during major tournaments sponsored by Valve. This scarcity, combined with its use by famous pro players, creates high community hype, demand, and market value as a sought-after iconic skin.

What Is the Souvenir MP9 | Hot Rod

Souvenir skins in CS2 are special items that commemorate significant eSports tournaments and include pro player autographs or event stickers. However, there is no souvenir version of the MP9 | Hot Rod in CS2 (CS:GO). It has never been available as a Souvenir drop, nor has it appeared in any pro tournament-branded collections or recorded auctions.

Famous Players & Streamers with MP9 | Hot Rod

Several notable esports professionals and streamers have used or showcased the MP9 | Hot Rod in their inventories, contributing to its prestige. Famous pros such as ScreaM and F0rest have been spotted with the skin, and well-known streamers like Anomaly and Sparkles have featured the MP9 | Hot Rod in trading and unboxing videos. How to Get a MP9 | Hot Rod

CS2 players have several ways to add the MP9 | Hot Rod skin to their inventory. One important detail to note is that this skin cannot be obtained through regular case openings. Instead, it is available exclusively from Souvenir Packages, which are rare and often expensive. The price of these packages typically starts around $15–$30, but depending on the event and demand, they can reach hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

The fastest and most straightforward way to get an MP9 | Hot Rod is to buy it directly from the Steam Community Marketplace. Steam, being Valve’s official platform, offers a high level of trust and security. However, it has limited deposit and withdrawal options, with most funds locked inside the Steam ecosystem. This makes it inconvenient if you want to cash out or use alternative payment methods.

That’s why many players turn to third-party platforms like Skin.Place. These marketplaces offer greater flexibility, including a wide range of payment and withdrawal methods, instant transactions, and often lower prices due to a more competitive environment. On Skin.Place, you can buy CS2 (CS:GO) skins quickly and safely, enjoy secure transactions, and withdraw your funds whenever you need, making it the smartest and most convenient choice for upgrading your CS2 inventory.
