The History of the MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO)

Who designed the MP7 | Gunsmoke? The MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed as part of Valve\'s official skin lineup and introduced into the game on August 14, 2013, as a part of the The Dust Collection. Its appearance pays homage to desert warfare, featuring a muted tan and smokey grey pattern that resonated with the gritty, tactical vibe of the early Counter-Strike days. This skin became available during Operation Bravo\'s launch and quickly earned recognition among early adopters, especially as the CS2 (CS:GO) MP7 | Gunsmoke was often a prize for those chasing collection completion.

The MP7 | Gunsmoke gained further attention during several CS:GO Majors, since it was available only from map-related drops rather than cases, and its accessibility made it a fan favorite for players and traders seeking classic aesthetics. The skin’s popularity peaked in periods when Dust map cases and collections saw renewed hype tied to competitive events. With the transition to CS2, the MP7 | Gunsmoke remains a staple, retaining loyal followers who appreciate its retro charm. Though graphics and skin trends have evolved, its spot in the game\'s history book remains well-secured, serving as a symbol of Counter-Strike’s early skin culture and in-game economy evolution.

How Rare Is the MP7 | Gunsmoke?

The rarity of MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO) is Classified (Pink), making it a relatively rare skin for the SMG slot. The CS2 (CS:GO) MP7 | Gunsmoke is found exclusively in the The Dust Collection, meaning it can only be obtained through map-based drops and trade-up contracts, as it is not available in weapon cases. This limited drop source has ensured that supply is inherently restricted, especially since The Dust Collection was eventually removed from the active drop pool, making unboxing opportunities scarce and further boosting the skin’s rarity.

Souvenir MP7 | Gunsmoke odds do not exist, as no souvenir variant was ever released. The skin enjoys niche popularity, particularly with longtime collectors and players who appreciate legacy Counter-Strike items. The combination of its low unboxing probability and nostalgic demand means this skin consistently retains value and distinction within the community.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO) features a sand-colored body handled with an abstract, stenciled smoke pattern in muted browns and grays. The pattern stays consistent regardless of the pattern index, so visual differences are minimal between individual skins.

Effect of float
The MP7 | Gunsmoke float value ranges from 0.06 to 0.80, making it available in all wear levels – Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. The skin’s finish becomes increasingly worn as the float rises: abrasions appear earliest on the receiver and magazine, with heavy wear bringing significant fading and visible scratches.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Factory New
The MP7 | Gunsmoke factory new version offers a clean, sharp look with almost no wear. It commands higher prices due to its pristine finish. Collectors and purists usually prize this condition most highly.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Minimal Wear
Much like Factory New, the MP7 | Gunsmoke minimal wear has only slight, nearly invisible abrasions. It provides an excellent cost-to-appearance balance, making it popular for budget-conscious buyers.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Field-Tested
This wear level displays moderate fading and marks, most notably around the edges. MP7 | Gunsmoke field tested versions are affordable and commonly found in trades or markets.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Well-Worn
MP7 | Gunsmoke well worn skins show considerable abrasions, dulling the underlying sand-and-smoke finish. This gives the weapon a gritty, battle-hardened aesthetic.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Battle-Scarred
The MP7 | Gunsmoke Battle Scarred features heavy wear, with most paint stripped and prominent scratches, suiting fans of the rough, battle-weary look.

StatTrak™ versions
While there is no StatTrak™ option for this skin, collectors should note its absence cannot be compensated for in any way. MP7 | Gunsmoke StatTrak seekers must explore other MP7 skins, as the Gunsmoke does not offer a StatTrak™ feature.

Skin Features and MP7 | Gunsmoke finish
The signature sandblasted and stenciled finish of the MP7 | Gunsmoke is valued for consistency and aged look at higher floats. The lack of extreme pattern differences ensures desirability at every condition. Price, personal preference, and availability are the main factors influencing collector interest across all wear levels.

MP7 | Gunsmoke Price & Market Value

MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO) remains a budget-friendly collectible, with price differences driven primarily by condition and float value. As of 2024, the average MP7 | Gunsmoke price ranges from $1.00 (Battle-Scarred) up to $6.00 for Factory New. MP7 | Gunsmoke price in Minimal Wear typically averages $2.00–$3.00, while Field-Tested and Well-Worn fall between $1.20–$2.00. CS2 (CS:GO) MP7 | Gunsmoke does not have StatTrak™ or Souvenir variants, so pricing is straightforward, but low-float, stickered or extremely clean versions may demand slight premiums.

How much is the MP7 | Gunsmoke really depends on exact float and market timing, but it consistently holds value as a classic. MP7 | Gunsmoke price trends remain stable thanks to its legacy status and the vanishing availability from discontinued drop pools. Is MP7 | Gunsmoke worth buying? Absolutely: it\'s perfect for collectors seeking a piece of Counter-Strike history or for players wanting a subtle, vintage SMG skin without a hefty investment.

What Is the Souvenir MP7 | Gunsmoke

Souvenir skins are unique variants dropped during CS:GO Major events, often commemorating matches and featuring tournament stickers or pro player autographs. However, the MP7 | Gunsmoke in CS2 (CS:GO) and CS2 (CS:GO) MP7 | Gunsmoke do not have a souvenir version. This means you won’t find any Gunsmoke with pro player signatures or special tournament markings tied to iconic events and there have been no record-breaking sales or auctions for such a variant.
