The History of the MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis in CS2 (CS:GO)

The MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis was designed by community artist Apel and introduced to the game with the release of the 2021 Mirage Collection on September 22, 2021. This collection arrived during Operation Riptide, which brought fresh excitement to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and, later, Counter-Strike 2. Its distinctive worn-copper look and blue highlights immediately drew attention within the CS:GO skin community.

Early on, the MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis in CS2 (CS:GO) gained traction due to its affordability and the growing popularity of the MP5-SD weapon itself. Over time, the skin began appearing in the inventories of streamers and mid-tier pro players, especially during open qualifiers and minor tournaments. While it didn\'t hit legendary status like some Covert skins, it saw spikes in demand during certain events and collection showcases.

Community hype peaked as the CS2 update rolled out, with players eager to see how Mirage Collection skins, including the CS2 (CS:GO) MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis, would look with updated lighting and textures. Today, it maintains consistent popularity, appealing to fans of both aesthetics and value.

How Rare Is the MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis?

The rarity of MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as Industrial Grade, making it one of the more accessible skins in its category. The CS2 (CS:GO) MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis is found exclusively within the 2021 Mirage Collection, opened via the Mirage 2021 Souvenir Package during select CS:GO Major Championships.

While it has not been removed from drop pools, its supply is dictated by the frequency of Major-related drops and operation cases. Probability-wise, unboxing the standard version is relatively common compared to rarer skins, but obtaining one in pristine condition with a desirable float is less frequent. Souvenir MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis versions are even more scarce, especially those from signature matches or iconic tournaments.

Despite higher quantities than Covert or Classified skins, the MP5-SD | Oxide Oasis enjoys steady popularity, with many players favoring it for themed loadouts and affordability.
