The History of the MP5-SD | Liquidation in CS2 (CS:GO)

MP5-SD | Liquidation in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by the community artist JavidJams and officially released on September 21, 2021, as part of the 2021 Dust 2 Collection during the Operation Riptide update in CS:GO. The skin immediately captured attention for its dynamic color palette and liquid-inspired graphic pattern.

During the CS:GO Majors and major community events in late 2021 and early 2022, CS2 (CS:GO) MP5-SD | Liquidation saw a surge in usage as pros and streamers showcased it during high-profile matches. This increased visibility sparked hype and demand on trading sites and Steam Market.

The transition to CS2 saw the MP5-SD | Liquidation retain—if not strengthen—its popularity as the updated graphics engine in Counter-Strike 2 further enhanced the skin’s vibrant look. Community enthusiasm remains high, thanks to its attainable price and modern style. For many players, it represents a perfect blend of aesthetic value and in-game practicality, ensuring its lasting relevance within the CS2 skin ecosystem.

How Rare Is the MP5-SD | Liquidation?

The MP5-SD | Liquidation in CS2 (CS:GO) is a Mil-Spec Grade (Blue) skin, making it relatively more common than higher-tier items but still a valued drop. CS2 (CS:GO) MP5-SD | Liquidation is available from the 2021 Dust 2 Collection, which can be obtained through collection packages, especially during operations or in-game events.

Rarity of MP5-SD | Liquidation means it does not carry the exclusivity of Covert or Classified skins, leading to a broader supply on the market. However, it has never been offered as a Souvenir, thus there are no Souvenir MP5-SD | Liquidation versions—impacting its maximum rarity ceiling. The probability of unboxing the MP5-SD | Liquidation is in line with other Mil-Spec skins, and while it isn't among the rarest CS2 options, its stylish looks have earned it considerable popularity with fans.
