The History of the MAG-7 | Storm in CS2 (CS:GO)

Designed by Valve’s internal art team, the MAG-7 | Storm in CS2 (CS:GO) was first introduced on August 14, 2013, as part of the infamous The Italy Collection. This collection paid tribute to maps set in iconic Italian locales, and the Storm skins reflected muted, utilitarian tones fitting the Counter-Strike universe.

The skin’s straightforward blue-grey finish matched the stormy ambiance of urban battles and quickly became a familiar sight in CS:GO. While it never boasted a vibrant color palette or intricate patterns, the CS2 (CS:GO) MAG-7 | Storm found early popularity due to its availability from map-based drop pools. The skin was especially common during the early years of CS:GO, peaking in visibility during major tournaments where players would regularly showcase default or Italy Collection loadouts.

Community interest in MAG-7 | Storm saw periodic revivals as nostalgia for early skin collections grew. With its seamless transition to CS2, the skin has maintained a steady level of relevance—still beloved by old-school players and traders who appreciate the legacy of one of the Counter-Strike series’ earliest and most affordable skin offerings.

How Rare Is the MAG-7 | Storm?

The MAG-7 | Storm in CS2 (CS:GO) is a Consumer Grade skin, making it among the most common in the game. It was originally available through the Italy Collection—which could be obtained as a drop on the map Italy, or through collection packages during major operations. The CS2 (CS:GO) MAG-7 | Storm was removed from active drop pools following the phase-out of map-based collections for regular drops, which has somewhat limited supply but not made it scarce due to its previous abundance.

The rarity of MAG-7 | Storm is low compared to most skin tiers, and odds of unboxing are tied to Italy Collection packages—now only obtainable through Souvenir Packages for select events. There are no Souvenir variants for this skin, limiting its rarity solely to standard versions. Despite its common status, the skin remains popular for trading and affordable inventory upgrades.
