The History of the MAC-10 | Lapis Gator in CS2 (CS:GO)

The MAC-10 | Lapis Gator in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by community artist Valve itself and was first introduced to the game on January 8, 2015, as part of the Chroma Collection. This vibrant skin quickly caught the attention of SMG users thanks to its bold blue scales, resembling an alligator's hide, paired with a subtle gold accent on the magazine and trigger.

Throughout CS:GO Majors between 2015 and 2017, the MAC-10 | Lapis Gator started to gain more visibility as players chose it for its unique aesthetic and accessibility during matches that highlighted SMG-heavy buys. The community hype rose, especially on skin trading forums and during operation events, with the skin appearing widely in player inventories and YouTube showcases.

As CS:GO transitioned into Counter-Strike 2, the CS2 (CS:GO) MAC-10 | Lapis Gator maintained its relevance, seeing renewed interest due to upgraded lighting and textures that enhanced the skin’s vibrant look. Today, its affordability, iconic appearance, and solid recognition among collectors and pro players keep it a staple within the SMG skin lineup.

How Rare Is the MAC-10 | Lapis Gator?

The MAC-10 | Lapis Gator in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Mil-Spec (Blue) grade skin, making it one of the more common SMG finishes. The skin was originally obtainable from the Chroma Case, one of the popular weapon case drops released in early 2015. While the Chroma Case is still available but less frequently dropped, the supply of new MAC-10 | Lapis Gator skins is restricted compared to newer cases, mildly contributing to its steady popularity and value.

The drop probability for a Mil-Spec item in most CS2 (CS:GO) cases is approximately 79.92%, making unboxing this skin much easier than higher rarities—but specific odds for the MAC-10 | Lapis Gator depend on the case's composition. There is no Souvenir MAC-10 | Lapis Gator version, as it was not included in any tournament souvenir collections, which further impacts availability for collectors seeking special variants.

The popularity of this skin persists due to its unique look, approachable price, and consistent appearance in player inventories.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The MAC-10 | Lapis Gator finish features a vivid blue scaly pattern, mimicking an alligator’s texture across the weapon body, with gold accents around the magazine and trigger. This design provides a shimmering, reptilian appearance that stands out in-game. Every skin appears virtually identical due to the stock pattern index, so pattern difference is negligible.

Effect of float
The MAC-10 | Lapis Gator float value ranges from 0.00 to 0.50, making it available in all five standard wear levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. The float value controls the amount of visible wear and fading of the scales, especially on high-exposure edges.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Factory New:
This condition boasts a crisp and vivid blue, with almost zero surface wear, making it the most visually appealing and valuable version. Factory New MAC-10 | Lapis Gator skins typically command the highest prices.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Minimal Wear:
Minimal wear versions show very slight abrasions along the edges but still retain their bright and clean look, often barely distinguishable from Factory New for most players.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Field-Tested:
Field-Tested skins introduce noticeable wear and dulling. The blue scaly pattern loses some sharpness, lowering the price and desirability but still remaining a solid budget choice.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Well Worn:
The well-worn condition exhibits more pronounced abrasions and fading along the body, especially on frequently handled areas. The overall effect is a more rugged and battle-used look.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator Battle Scarred:
Heavily worn and faded, Battle-Scarred versions have muted colors and significant visible scuffing. While the visual appeal is reduced, some players prefer this rugged look or collect all wear levels.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator StatTrak™:
StatTrak versions are available in all wear levels and include a kill counter mounted on the weapon. MAC-10 | Lapis Gator StatTrak skins command a premium due to their rarity and stat-tracking feature.

MAC-10 | Lapis Gator float value and MAC-10 | Lapis Gator finish have a significant role in determining both price and desirability, with low-float Factory New and high-float Battle-Scarred being especially noted among collectors.
