The History of the ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed as part of the Arms Deal Update, which introduced skins and cases to the CS:GO ecosystem in August 2013. While Valve artists crafted the skin's general look, its mesmerizing blue, gold, and purple color patterns are generated by random pattern seeds—meaning each blade is unique. The skin quickly gained traction among elite players and collectors due to the hype around rare 'blue gem' patterns, which feature predominately blue coloring.

The skin’s popularity reached new heights during various CS:GO Majors, with players and streamers flaunting extraordinary pattern versions, fueling demand and intense community discussion about pattern rankings. Over the years, notable streamers and pro players have showcased their prized blue gems, causing brief surges in market prices and collector frenzy. The transition into CS2 has only strengthened its reputation, as improved lighting and graphics make the Case Hardened finish more eye-catching than ever. Today, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened remains one of the most celebrated and sought-after knife skins in Counter-Strike history.

How Rare Is the ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened?

When it comes to rarity, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened stands out as a highly coveted Covert (red) skin. It can be unboxed from weapon case series such as the original CS:GO Weapon Case, CS:GO Weapon Case 2, and CS:GO Weapon Case 3. However, these cases have been discontinued from active drop pools, severely limiting supply and increasing the skin’s rarity.

The probability of unboxing a ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) is extremely low, estimated at less than 0.26% per case opening. There is no Souvenir version available for this knife, so all Case Hardened M9 Bayonets are obtained from cases directly. Due to its legacy status, visual appeal, and pattern variety, this skin has maintained high popularity and is frequently sought after by knife enthusiasts and elite traders. The rarity of ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened is further amplified by the select few who own 'blue gem' pattern variants, which have legendary status among the CS community.

★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened features a blade finished with a case-hardened effect, resulting in a mottled mix of blues, purples, yellows, and golds. Each piece is unique due to the randomly assigned pattern, making some configurations (like full-blue 'blue gems') incredibly rare and valuable.

Pattern difference
The pattern index determines the proportion and location of blue, gold, or purple hues on the blade. Patterns with more blue generally command much higher prices.

Effect of float
The ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00, allowing the skin to exist in all wear levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. The float value affects both the amount and location of visible wear—though the vibrant case-hardened finish helps mask some scratching compared to plainer skins.

Skin Features
Every knife comes with its own pattern and float, making each item one-of-a-kind. There are also StatTrak™ versions, which track kills made with the knife.

Factory New:
The ★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened Factory New commands the highest value, especially for beautiful blue gem patterns. Factory New knives have minimal to no scratches and pristine coloration. Their price is significantly above other wear levels due to their scarcity.

Field-Tested:
★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened Field-Tested knives display more evident scratches, especially on high areas of the blade. However, some patterns still look great, and these are more affordable without a massive drop in appearance.

Well-Worn:
★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened Well Worn shows considerable fading and scratches. Only the rarest blue patterns hold premium value in this category.

Battle-Scarred:
★ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened Battle Scarred has extensive wear and dull coloring. These are the cheapest option, best for budget users or collectors hunting a specific pattern.

StatTrak™ versions:
