The History of the M4A1-S | Nightmare in CS2 (CS:GO)

The CS2 (CS:GO) M4A1-S | Nightmare was designed by Nextgenz and Keffik, two prominent artists in the Steam Workshop community who envisioned a weapon finish that combined ethereal elements with a spooky and mysterious appearance. Debuting on August 2, 2018, as part of the Horizon Case, the M4A1-S | Nightmare in CS2 (CS:GO) instantly attracted attention for its ghostly blue hues and intricate skull motifs. Its rise to fame was accelerated by rich community hype and the number of pro players spotted wielding it during CS:GO Majors, making it a regular feature on tournament stages and streams. Over time, the skin\'s popularity grew even stronger, thanks to its haunting visuals and excellent compatibility with a range of stickers. Upon the transition into CS2, the M4A1-S | Nightmare maintained—if not increased—its relevance, largely due to updated lighting and rendering in the new engine, which made the skin\'s vibrant artwork look even more stunning. Today, the CS2 (CS:GO) M4A1-S | Nightmare stands as an iconic, sought-after skin celebrated by both pros and casual players alike.

How Rare Is the M4A1-S | Nightmare?

The rarity of M4A1-S | Nightmare makes it a highly desirable item within the CS2 (CS:GO) community. It is classified as a Classified (Pink) rarity skin and is exclusively available from the Horizon Case, with no other case or collection including it in their drop pools. Since its release in 2018, the drop source remains unchanged and it has never been removed from active drop rotations, ensuring a steady—albeit rare—supply. However, as with all Classified skins, the unboxing odds are low, with an estimated probability of under 3%. There is currently no official Souvenir M4A1-S | Nightmare available, meaning the classic unboxing route is the only method to obtain it. The CS2 (CS:GO) M4A1-S | Nightmare is frequently seen in top inventories, demonstrating its high popularity and demand among both casuals and pros.

M4A1-S | Nightmare Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The M4A1-S | Nightmare finish portrays ominous blue skulls and wispy ghost-like tendrils swirling across a matte black base. With little pattern difference, the design remains relatively consistent regardless of the pattern index.
Effect of float
The M4A1-S | Nightmare float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00, making it obtainable in all wear conditions, from Factory New to Battle-Scarred. Higher float values introduce noticeable fading and scratches, especially on the magazine, handguard, and barrel.
M4A1-S | Nightmare Factory New
Factory New offers the skin's most vibrant, undamaged visuals. Expect minimal abrasions, deep blues, and high market value—typically the most expensive option.
M4A1-S | Nightmare Minimal Wear
Minimal Wear retains much of the Factory New's brilliance but introduces light edge wear. The price is slightly lower, making it a popular middle ground for collectors and budget-conscious players.
M4A1-S | Nightmare Field-Tested
Field-Tested starts showing moderate fading and wear on key surfaces. It's the most commonly traded version, providing solid visual appeal at a mid-range price.
M4A1-S | Nightmare Well-Worn
Well-Worn versions exhibit further scratches and dulled blue accents. The haunting theme remains, but detailing softens considerably, lowering the value.
M4A1-S | Nightmare Battle-Scarred
Battle-Scarred skins lose much of their graphical intensity, with heavy abrasions and muted colors. This is the most affordable choice for those seeking the skin on a tight budget.
M4A1-S | Nightmare StatTrak
StatTrak variants are available in all wear levels. They feature a kill counter, significantly boosting collectability and price. Float value still impacts the StatTrak's appearance; Factory New StatTrak items are rare and extra valuable.
Skin Features
The M4A1-S | Nightmare finish is best enjoyed with a low float value. Its standout haunting motif and wide wear accessibility make it a flexible and desirable addition to any loadout.

M4A1-S | Nightmare Price & Market Value

The M4A1-S | Nightmare price varies widely by wear level and StatTrak status. For Factory New, expect a price range of $45–$70, while Minimal Wear versions typically trade between $28–$50. Field-Tested models are often available from $16–$28, with Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred options dipping as low as $10–$20. M4A1-S | Nightmare price increases significantly for StatTrak variants, with Factory New StatTrak versions climbing above $100, and other conditions following suit at a premium. How much is the M4A1-S | Nightmare?
