The History of the M4A1-S | Moss Quartz in CS2 (CS:GO)

The M4A1-S | Moss Quartz in CS2 (CS:GO) first appeared on February 14, 2018, as part of the "Welcome to the Clutch" update. Designed as a part of the 2018 Inferno Collection, this skin does not credit a community artist but was developed internally by Valve to evoke the look of natural moss embedded in quartz. The distinct mineral-inspired finish quickly caught the attention of players for its clean, crystalline green hues. While it didn\'t become a headline skin at early release, the skin\'s popularity grew due to its presence in trade-ups and its attractive price point.

During the CS:GO Majors and community events, the CS2 (CS:GO) M4A1-S | Moss Quartz saw a surge in attention as players and streamers showcased budget-friendly but stylish inventories. The skin\'s rise to fame was accelerated as more professional players and influencers equipped it, bringing it into the esports spotlight.

With the transition to CS2, the M4A1-S | Moss Quartz continued to maintain its following, as improved lighting and graphics highlighted its crystalline textures. Its enduring appeal is cemented among new and veteran players who seek an affordable yet unique rifle skin for their collection or competitive loadout.

How Rare Is the M4A1-S | Moss Quartz?

The M4A1-S | Moss Quartz in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade skin, making it one of the more common rifle finishes. The CS2 (CS:GO) M4A1-S | Moss Quartz is found exclusively in the 2018 Inferno Collection, which was obtainable through souvenir packages and as a random drop during Major tournament map-specific rewards. As the 2018 Inferno Collection is no longer in active circulation and was removed from the drop pool, the supply of the skin is limited to existing stocks, increasing its rarity slightly over time.

Rarity of M4A1-S | Moss Quartz is further influenced by condition: StatTrak™ versions are not available, and there is no Souvenir variant. Probability of unboxing is tied to the limited number of Inferno Collection packages left in the community. The skin remains popular due to its accessible price point and widespread availability before the drop removal, keeping it commonly seen but slowly decreasing in supply.
