The History of the M4A1-S | Basilisk in CS2 (CS:GO)

The M4A1-S | Basilisk in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by community artist OniLolz and released on November 11, 2014, as part of the Operation Vanguard Weapon Case. Its distinctive finish features a hand-engraved look with a detailed basilisk wrapping around the weapon's receiver, blending traditional artistic motifs with the lethal aesthetics of CS2 (CS:GO). The skin quickly gained traction during CS:GO Majors, often spotted in the hands of both professional players and rising stars, fueling demand and visibility. Community hype for the Basilisk peaked not only during its initial release but also during times when Operation Vanguard cases saw increased interest. With the transition to CS2, the M4A1-S | Basilisk retained its allure, benefiting from updated graphics and continued affordability. Today, it remains popular among both players and skin collectors due to its accessible price and contested legacy as a stylish, memorable skin from one of Counter-Strike's most prolific operations.

How Rare Is the M4A1-S | Basilisk?

The Rarity of M4A1-S | Basilisk lies in its Classified grade, making it a purple-tier drop with moderate unboxing odds. The M4A1-S | Basilisk in CS2 (CS:GO) can be obtained from the Operation Vanguard Weapon Case, which remains a tradable and purchasable supply, so it hasn't been fully removed from drop pools. However, the case itself is now discontinued from active drops, which gradually impacts the skin's supply and adds to its market exclusivity. Unboxing probability is similar to other Classified skins, estimated at about 3.2% per case opening. There is no Souvenir M4A1-S | Basilisk, so all versions are standard or StatTrak. Among its competitors, the skin enjoys consistent popularity due to its design and affordability, making it a reliable, collectible option for both new and veteran CS2 (CS:GO) fans.

Pattern description: The M4A1-S | Basilisk finish features a steel-gray body with an intricately engraved basilisk serpent, complemented by a matte black handguard and stock.

Pattern difference: The skin does not display pattern variations, so every item looks the same regardless of the pattern index.

Effect of float: The M4A1-S | Basilisk float value spans from 0.00 to 1.00, making it available in all possible wear levels. As float increases, visible abrasions expand, especially on the engraved basilisk and receiver.

M4A1-S | Basilisk Factory New: In Factory New condition, the skin shows impeccable engraving and a clean matte finish. M4A1-S | Basilisk factory new variants are the most sought after by collectors, commanding premium prices.

M4A1-S | Basilisk Minimal Wear: M4A1-S | Basilisk minimal wear skins display very slight wear, usually on the most prominent raised areas of the weapon, but the artwork remains crisp and highly collectible. Minimal wear is popular for balancing appearance and cost.

M4A1-S | Basilisk Field-Tested: M4A1-S | Basilisk Field Tested versions show moderate abrasions, particularly on the receiver and stock, yet retain much of the original design. They are favored by budget-conscious players.

M4A1-S | Basilisk Well Worn: The M4A1-S | Basilisk well worn option appears heavily used, with large sections of the finish missing, especially on high-contact points, offering a rugged aesthetic at a lower price.

M4A1-S | Basilisk Battle Scarred: M4A1-S | Basilisk Battle Scarred skins are the most affordable but show severe wear, with much of the basilisk and engraved detail faded or missing.

M4A1-S | Basilisk StatTrak: StatTrak variants for all wear levels are also available and can track kills in CS2 (CS:GO). These StatTrak M4A1-S | Basilisk skins are always more expensive due to the added stat feature and appeal for competitive players.
