The History of the M249 | Submerged in CS2 (CS:GO)

The M249 | Submerged in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by Valve artists and was introduced as part of The Danger Zone Collection on December 6, 2018, during the release of CS:GO's Danger Zone update. Its textured blue and teal appearance quickly set it apart, showcasing a stylized interpretation of submersion. Early on, the skin garnered attention during CS:GO Majors, where players and spectators took note of its unique aesthetic compared to other machine gun skins.

Community hype grew especially among those who favored heavy weaponry, as the CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Submerged offered a refreshing change from the usual dark and metallic finishes found on the M249. Although it did not reach the iconic status of high-end AWP or AK-47 skins, it became a cult favorite for its affordability and charm. As CS:GO transitioned to Counter-Strike 2, the skin maintained its visual identity and continued to be a popular choice in casual and competitive play. Its enduring appeal is a testament to its accessible design and the steady popularity of camo-themed skins within the CS2 community.
