The History of the M249 | Jungle in CS2 (CS:GO)

The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Jungle is a skin that dates back to the early days of CS:GO, first appearing in August 2013 as part of The Alpha Collection, which was introduced with the release of the Arms Deal update. The design, credited to Valve’s in-house artists, showcases a simple yet effective green camouflage pattern, reminiscent of classic military jungle gear. Although it was not the centerpiece of any major tournaments, the skin was seen in play during early CS:GO Majors, especially on classic map rotations.
Community hype for the M249 | Jungle has risen intermittently, especially as older collections became less accessible, thus raising its desirability among collectors and completionists. Its steady transition into Counter-Strike 2 kept some of this legacy intact—now, M249 | Jungle in CS2 (CS:GO) holds nostalgic value for OG players and collectors, symbolizing the enduring appeal of the game’s earliest skin collections. The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Jungle may not be a high-profile esport choice, but its history cements its place in CS2’s lore.

How Rare Is the M249 | Jungle?

The M249 | Jungle in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade (Light Blue) skin, making it one of the more common rarities in the drop pool. The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Jungle could originally be obtained from The Alpha Collection, which is now exclusive and no longer available through active drop pools, increasing rarity for newer players. As for the Rarity of M249 | Jungle, its Industrial Grade status means it’s more frequently unboxed compared to higher-tier skins, but the supply is capped by the limited availability of The Alpha Collection packages. There is no Souvenir version of this skin, and the odds of unboxing it are tied directly to acquiring Alpha Collection packages, which are now costly and sought after due to their discontinued status. Popularity-wise, it tends to be a niche collector’s item rather than a mainstream favorite, reflected in steady but not overwhelming interest on trading and marketplace platforms.

M249 | Jungle Wear Levels and Conditions

Skin Wear levels explained
M249 | Jungle factory new skins show crisp colors and minimal wear, generally priced the highest and favored by collectors.
M249 | Jungle minimal wear offers nearly FN visual quality with slight abrasions around the edges, and fetches a marginally lower price.
M249 | Jungle Field Tested displays moderate scratches, especially on high-contact areas; prices are more affordable and this variant is popular among budget collectors.
M249 | Jungle well worn exhibits noticeable fading and more prominent scratches, becoming more matte, and usually trades for a lower price within the market.
M249 | Jungle Battle Scarred is marked by significant finish loss, showcasing a heavily used appearance; it’s the most affordable version and often appeals to those collecting all conditions.
