The History of the M249 | Impact Drill in CS2 (CS:GO)

The M249 | Impact Drill was designed by artist "Mister Gravity" and made its initial appearance in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as part of the Gamma 2 Collection, added to the game in August 2016. Its design, inspired by industrial equipment, showcases a bold yellow base with blue details and hazard stripes, instantly making it recognizable among M249 skins. The M249 | Impact Drill in CS2 (CS:GO) found its rise to fame during various CS:GO Majors and esports events, where fans enjoyed its utilitarian style during rare moments when the M249 was picked in competitive play. Although not the most used LMG in professional games, community hype occasionally surged when pros experimented with the M249, bringing temporary attention to the skin. As CS2 launched, the CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Impact Drill smoothly transitioned between the versions, remaining a fan favorite for collectors and skin completists. Its enduring appeal comes from its unique design, accessible price point, and its status as a staple of the Gamma 2 skin lineup.

How Rare Is the M249 | Impact Drill?

The M249 | Impact Drill in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Mil-Spec Grade (blue) skin. Its main drop source is the Gamma 2 Case, which is still available in the game's drop pool. The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Impact Drill is not considered rare when compared to higher-tier skins, but it has an approximate unboxing chance of around 79.92% for Mil-Spec items (considering all possibilities, but actual odds vary due to case contents). There are no Souvenir versions available for this skin, which means collectors focus only on the standard and StatTrak™ variants. The skin’s popularity remains solid among players looking for affordable, industrial-themed cosmetics, and availability continues thanks to active case openings. The rarity of M249 | Impact Drill stays consistent since the Gamma 2 Case remains accessible in the market, without removal from the drop pool, ensuring steady supply and stable price trends.

M249 | Impact Drill Wear Levels and Conditions

Effect of float
The float value for the M249 | Impact Drill in CS2 (CS:GO) ranges from 0.00 to 0.50, meaning it is available in Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred conditions. As float increases, abrasions become visible near the magazine and barrel.
M249 | Impact Drill Factory New
This condition maintains the skin’s sharpest and most vibrant appearance with minimal wear. The M249 | Impact Drill factory new edition commands a higher price due to its pristine look.
M249 | Impact Drill Minimal Wear
Very small abrasions start appearing, but the skin still retains much of its luster. The M249 | Impact Drill minimal wear typically offers the best value for players seeking near-perfect visual quality at a lower price than Factory New.
M249 | Impact Drill Field Tested
Noticeable scratches develop around the edges, particularly on the blue areas. The M249 | Impact Drill Field Tested is a budget-friendly option while keeping most of the visual appeal.
M249 | Impact Drill Well Worn
More prominent abrasions and duller colors become evident. Despite the heavier wear, M249 | Impact Drill well worn remains a decent choice for budget players.
M249 | Impact Drill Battle Scarred
Heavy scratches and faded design, the M249 | Impact Drill Battle Scarred is valued mainly by bargain hunters or collectors aiming for a complete set.
M249 | Impact Drill StatTrak™
The StatTrak™ versions track kills, have identical float characteristics, and always trade at a higher price across all wear levels due to their added functionality.
Skin Features
The M249 | Impact Drill finish offers consistent, recognizable visuals across all wear levels, with the primary difference being the degree of visible damage and fade as float value rises.
