The History of the M249 | Aztec in CS2 (CS:GO)

The M249 | Aztec in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by Valve’s in-house art team and first introduced with The Aztec Collection, which was launched alongside the release of CS:GO’s Operation Bravo update in September 2013. The skin pays homage to the lost Aztec map of Counter-Strike, carrying over the lush green and gold styling reminiscent of the ancient temples and jungle. Its addition offered players a visual memento of the map, especially as the competitive pool evolved.

During the early years of CS:GO Majors, the CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Aztec saw a spike in interest, particularly from collectors looking to assemble complete Aztec or map-themed sets. While this skin was never highlighted in high-stakes pro matches due to the M249’s rarity in competitive lineups, community figures and YouTubers often spotlighted it in thematic inventory showcases.

Transitioning into CS2, the M249 | Aztec maintains a sentimental value for veteran players and skin enthusiasts. Its nostalgic ties and historical design ensure its continued popularity in CS2, even if it never becomes an esport staple.

How Rare Is the M249 | Aztec?

The M249 | Aztec in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Consumer Grade skin, making it one of the more common drops, but its unique pattern and limited case availability contribute to its niche appeal. The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Aztec was originally only obtainable from The Aztec Collection, primarily through map drops rather than cases or souvenir packages. With the removal of the Aztec Collection from the active drop pool, the rarity of M249 | Aztec has gradually increased, particularly for pristine and low float versions.

There are no Souvenir M249 | Aztec skins, so unboxing odds are limited to regular drops, and StatTrak variants are also absent. Its increasing scarcity has had a direct impact on the skin’s perceived rarity and market price, though it remains accessible compared to high-tier items. The skin enjoys a steady, if modest, popularity among those who appreciate classic map collections or unique designs.

M249 | Aztec Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description: The CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Aztec showcases ornate green, brown, and yellow Aztec-inspired patterns. Each skin has minimal pattern difference, so appearance is mostly consistent aside from wear-related abrasions.

Effect of float: The M249 | Aztec float value ranges from 0.06 to 0.80, allowing this skin to be found in every wear level from Factory New to Battle-Scarred. The higher the float, the more worn and faded the vibrant green and gold become, especially significant at extreme float values.

Factory New: M249 | Aztec factory new variants are pristine, with bold coloring and minimal surface wear. They command slightly higher prices due to their rarity and appeal to collectors.

Minimal Wear: The M249 | Aztec minimal wear condition offers nearly the same vibrance as Factory New but with tiny scratches on high points. These are more affordable while maintaining visual appeal.

Field-Tested: M249 | Aztec Field Tested is where wear becomes more visible, affecting the crispness of the skin’s edges and brighter colors. Prices drop moderately at this level, making it a popular budget choice.

Well-Worn: The M249 | Aztec well worn skins show clear fading and abrasions, with much of the central motif losing definition. Prices continue to decrease, appealing to fans of battle-hardened looks.

Battle-Scarred: M249 | Aztec Battle Scarred skins have heavy wear and extensive fading, making the skin appear muted and aged. This version is the most affordable but least desirable for skin purists.

StatTrak™ Versions: There is no M249 | Aztec StatTrak variant, so kill-tracking options are not available for this skin.

M249 | Aztec finish: The finish remains the same regardless of pattern index but varies widely with float. Lower float versions fetch higher prices and are sought by collectors.

M249 | Aztec Price & Market Value

The M249 | Aztec in CS2 (CS:GO) stands out for its affordability. M249 | Aztec price for Factory New typically ranges between $7 and $12 USD. Minimal Wear versions drop to approximately $5 to $8. M249 | Aztec price for Field-Tested is commonly $2 to $5, making it one of the more budget-friendly classic skins. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred conditions can be found for as low as $1 to $2.

How much is the M249 | Aztec Souvenir edition? There is no official Souvenir version of this skin, so prices are based strictly on wear and float value. M249 | Aztec price also fluctuates with rare low float values or if the item features valuable stickers, which can make certain pieces more desirable for collectors.

Is M249 | Aztec worth buying? For those seeking a nostalgic, map-inspired skin at an accessible price point, the CS2 (CS:GO) M249 | Aztec is an excellent addition to any inventory, providing both historic significance and visual flair.
