The History of the ★ Karambit | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by Valve and introduced with the Arms Deal update, released on August 14, 2013, marking the debut of skins in Counter-Strike. Instantly, its vivid case hardened finish drew attention—a unique blend of blue, gold, and silver patterns, with certain blue-dominant "Blue Gem" patterns becoming legendary within the community. As CS:GO Majors took off, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Karambit | Case Hardened surfaced in pro player inventories and highlight reels, especially during era-defining tournaments. Its iconic status was solidified by its rarity, unique pattern possibilities, and frequent discussion among traders, collectors, and YouTubers. Over the years, periods of extreme hype revolved around the chase for rare pattern indices, driving prices even higher. When CS2 was released, the skin carried forward its legacy—further enhanced by upgraded graphics and visual effects. The transition ensured that the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Karambit | Case Hardened retained its legendary reputation, remaining a coveted item among both new and veteran players.

How Rare Is the ★ Karambit | Case Hardened?

The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) belongs to the Covert rarity tier, making it exceedingly rare. It can only be unboxed from the original CS:GO weapon cases such as the "CS:GO Weapon Case", "eSports 2013 Case", and "Operation Bravo Case"—all of which are discontinued, further driving up scarcity. The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Karambit | Case Hardened is no longer in the active drop pool, which means its numbers will only decrease over time. The probability of unboxing this knife is incredibly low (less than 0.26% per case for knives, and even lower for specific patterns). There are no Souvenir versions available, making the standard version the peak of rarity for this skin. The skin consistently enjoys immense popularity, particularly among high-end collectors and traders.

★ Karambit | Case Hardened Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened finish features a metallic surface coated via case hardening, creating a swirling coloration of blues, golds, and silvers that vary with each pattern seed. Some patterns, especially 'Blue Gem' types dominated by blue coloring, are much more desirable.

Pattern difference: No two knives are ever the same, as each has a unique pattern index that can significantly affect desirability and price.

Effect of float: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00, enabling it to spawn in every condition, from Factory New to Battle-Scarred. The float influences visible scratches, wear, and the vibrance of its finish.

Skin Features: The skin is available in StatTrak™ versions, tracking confirmed kills, which often come at a premium due to rarity and added functionality.

Factory New: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened factory new has virtually no visible wear, offering the cleanest look and sharpest colors. These are the most expensive, especially if the pattern features lots of blue ('Blue Gem' Factory New versions rank among the rarest and most valuable).

Minimal Wear: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened minimal wear retains most of its coloration, with slight wear visible up close. Prices are generally high, but slightly less than factory new.

Field-Tested: With moderate scratches and some faded colors, the ★ Karambit | Case Hardened field tested offers a balanced option between price and appearance.

Well-Worn: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened well worn will show increased wear and duller finish, but can offer good value for collectors not focused on pristine looks.

Battle-Scarred: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened Battle Scarred has the most pronounced wear, significantly dulling the finish, but still desired for unique pattern outcomes.

StatTrak™ versions: The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened StatTrak increases collector value thanks to the added kill tracker, and is available in all the stated wear conditions. StatTrak items can be drastically more expensive, especially in low float or rare patterns.

Finish/Float value: Since both pattern and float (wear level) dramatically impact the skin’s looks and value, collectors often pay close attention to both when purchasing a ★ Karambit | Case Hardened finish.
