The History of the ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls in CS2 (CS:GO) were introduced as part of the "Clutch Case" update, released on February 15, 2018. The community and design team at Valve is credited with its creation, utilizing the popular hand wraps template and overlaying a stylized cobalt blue color scheme accented with menacing skull patterns.

The skin initially garnered attention through CS:GO Majors where pros and influencers showcased its eye-catching visuals, rapidly increasing its status among glove skins. Its rise was largely fueled by multiple pro players and streamers using the skin during highlight plays and tournament broadcasts.

Fan hype for the ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls spiked after appearances in inventory reveals and trade-ups involving popular personalities. The skin seamlessly transitioned into CS2, where improved textures and the Source 2 engine gave it an even more vibrant appearance. Today, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls continues to enjoy immense popularity, cementing its reputation as a top-tier cosmetic for both devoted skin collectors and competitive esports professionals.

How Rare Is the ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls?

The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls is classified as a Covert (Extraordinary) grade glove, which is one of the highest rarities in the game and commands a very low drop rate. The skin can be unboxed from the "Clutch Case" as well as the "Snakebite Case," both of which feature a broad pool of gloves.

The rarity of ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls is enhanced by their extremely low odds—estimated at less than 0.25% per glove case opening for any gloves, with even lower odds for a specific pattern and float. These gloves have never been removed from drop pools, but their supply remains limited due to case unboxing odds and their place in the high-tier category.

There are no Souvenir versions of ★ Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls, meaning all authentic versions are obtained directly from case unboxings. Despite their rarity, the gloves have garnered over 12,000 community votes for popularity, reflecting frequent use and high desirability in the CS2 skin market.
