The History of the ★ Gut Knife | Lore in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Gut Knife | Lore in CS2 (CS:GO) was crafted as part of the extended Lore skin family, whose concept draws inspiration from medieval legend and fantasy design. Although the main design team at Valve, with contributions from freelance community artists, is generally credited for the Lore series, the specific artist for the Gut Knife variant is not publicly listed.

The skin made its debut on June 15, 2016, with the Gamma Case update in CS:GO. Upon release, its ornate gold blade with Celtic engravings quickly attracted the attention of skin collectors and competitive players alike. The Lore series drew community hype thanks to its legendary roots—mirroring the classic Dragon Lore AWP and engaging fans through shared thematic elements.

Its popularity soared during key CS:GO Majors, with countless pro players equipping the Gut Knife | Lore to make a style statement during high-profile matches. Over the years, the skin has maintained consistent demand, cemented by players and influencers flaunting it in streams and tournament play.

With the transition into CS2, the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Gut Knife | Lore retained its status and even increased in desirability due to updated lighting and skin rendering. To this day, it remains a favorite among dedicated knife skin enthusiasts and a prominent fixture in curated inventories.

How Rare Is the ★ Gut Knife | Lore?

The rarity of ★ Gut Knife | Lore in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as Covert, the highest possible tier for knives, making it one of the most elusive drops in the game. The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Gut Knife | Lore can be unboxed from Gamma Cases and Gamma 2 Cases, and it cannot be found in any Souvenir Packages.

After introduction, the skin has never been removed from active cases, ensuring a continuous, although still extremely rare, supply. The probability of unboxing a Gut Knife | Lore is lower than 1%, aligning with general knife drop rates.

Despite lacking a Souvenir edition, the skin's distinct design and Covert rarity drive high popularity among players and collectors. Its high Covert rarity ensures that only a lucky few will ever unbox it, contributing significantly to its desirability and value.

★ Gut Knife | Lore Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The ★ Gut Knife | Lore finish features an ornate gold blade decorated with intricate Celtic knotwork and a subtle green-tinted handle, mimicking the style of the famous Dragon Lore. The pattern is consistent across all float values, so collectors do not need to hunt for rare variations.

Effect of float
The ★ Gut Knife | Lore float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00, meaning the skin is available in all five wear conditions. Float value determines the intensity of visible wear, notably edge wear and fading of the gold engravings.

★ Gut Knife | Lore factory new
Factory New specimens (float 0.00–0.07) are the most pristine, with clean, vibrant gold engravings and little to no edge wear. These are highly sought after and demand premium pricing.

★ Gut Knife | Lore minimal wear
Minimal Wear (float 0.07–0.15) shows only the slightest edge or tip fading, retaining nearly all visual appeal for a slightly lower price than Factory New.

★ Gut Knife | Lore Field Tested
Field-Tested (float 0.15–0.38) skins display some scratches and more pronounced fading, particularly around the blade's edge, making these a popular mid-tier option.

★ Gut Knife | Lore well worn
Well-Worn (float 0.38–0.45) and Battle-Scarred (float 0.45–1.00) have visible abrasions, dulled gold, and a heavily weathered look. Collectors sometimes value the unique "battle-used" aesthetic, while casual players choose these for affordability.

★ Gut Knife | Lore Battle Scarred
As the most weathered and least expensive, Battle-Scarred versions appeal to budget buyers or fans of the well-used style.

★ Gut Knife | Lore StatTrak
StatTrak versions are available for all wear levels and display kill counts, making them even rarer and raising both price and prestige for owners.

Skin Features
The ★ Gut Knife | Lore finish remains detailed in all conditions but rewards higher float value with more distinct abrasions. Whether in Factory New or Battle-Scarred, the skin stands out due to its unique pattern and status.
