The History of the FAMAS | Sergeant in CS2 (CS:GO)

The FAMAS | Sergeant in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by Valve and introduced on May 1, 2014, as part of Operation Phoenix and the subsequent Operation Phoenix Weapon Case update. The skin quickly gained attention due to its drill sergeant-inspired design, which contrasted with the more flamboyant rifle skins of its era.

The CS2 (CS:GO) FAMAS | Sergeant achieved notoriety during several CS:GO Majors, especially in matches played on maps favoring rifles like Inferno and Mirage. Throughout 2014 and 2015, community hype surged as players sought more affordable yet striking skins, and the Sergeant became a go-to for both new and veteran players.

Although the skin saw periods of modest popularity, occasional appearances in pro matches and various YouTube showcases reignited interest, especially for collectors chasing Operation Phoenix-themed inventories. Its transition into CS2 was seamless, maintaining a loyal fanbase and visibility amongst skin collectors and players who appreciate affordable, classic military aesthetics.

How Rare Is the FAMAS | Sergeant?

The FAMAS | Sergeant in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Restricted (pink) rifle skin, putting it in the mid-tier rarity bracket. It is exclusively available through the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case, which limits its availability compared to more common skins and has increased its desirability as the case has become less common over time.

The CS2 (CS:GO) FAMAS | Sergeant was never removed from the drop pool but is only accessible via Operation Phoenix Weapon cases or through the Steam Market and third-party trading. The rarity of FAMAS | Sergeant means the probability of unboxing it is around 15%, typical for Restricted grade items in a case, but Souvenir versions are not available for this skin.

Despite its mid-tier status, the skin remains popular due to its distinct military theme and reliable presence in both casual and competitive play, making it a staple choice for many FAMAS users.
