The History of the FAMAS | Decommissioned in CS2 (CS:GO)

FAMAS | Decommissioned in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by artist Millenia and introduced on September 3, 2018, as part of the 2018 Nuke Collection released alongside the FACEIT London 2018 Major. Its industrial red and grey color palette draws inspiration from decommissioned machinery and nuclear warning signs, giving it a gritty, themed appearance.

This skin first appeared in CS:GO, quickly capturing the community's attention as part of the Nuke-themed drop pool. The rise to fame for CS2 (CS:GO) FAMAS | Decommissioned was marked by its frequent unboxing during the FACEIT Major and subsequent usage in prominent matches, increasing its desirability among players and collectors alike.

As operations and cases evolved, the community consistently showed hype for this skin due to its affordable entry point and distinct style. Upon transitioning into CS2, the skin retained its visual charm and continued to be a go-to pick for those seeking to personalize their loadouts, cementing its popularity even as newer skins were introduced.

How Rare Is the FAMAS | Decommissioned?

FAMAS | Decommissioned in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as an Industrial Grade (light blue) skin, making it more common compared to rarer weapon finishes. It is predominantly found in the 2018 Nuke Collection, which could be obtained through the FACEIT 2018 London Major souvenir packages. As the Nuke Collection is periodically vaulted from active drops, the supply of CS2 (CS:GO) FAMAS | Decommissioned has become more limited and, as a result, the skin is not as easy to unbox today.

The probability of unboxing a FAMAS | Decommissioned is higher than rare or covert skins, but demand for Souvenir versions, especially with tournament stickers, increases their collectible appeal. The rarity of FAMAS | Decommissioned means it is accessible for most players, yet souvenir editions—tied to historic matches—remain highly prized among collectors. Its steady popularity is reflected in market activity and community trading.
