The History of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed by Valve's talented in-house art team. It made its first appearance in CS:GO as part of the "Operation Breakout Weapon Case" released on July 1, 2014, which was the launch case for the butterfly knife itself. Its menacing red blade adorned with a spider web pattern gained immediate attention, especially as it began to appear in the hands of professional players during major CS:GO tournaments.

During several CS:GO Majors, the Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web became synonymous with high-level play and became a coveted item among both fans and esports stars. The hype intensified during periods where rare patterns—especially Factory New condition—were highlighted by top streamers and popular skin showcases. Its transition into Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) retained its legendary status, with the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web remaining a classic, rare pick in the competitive scene. Today, it commands huge respect and is often cited as one of the most elite and desirable knives ever released in the franchise.

How Rare Is the ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web?

The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Covert knife, the rarest tier for knives in the game. It was originally only available from the "Operation Breakout Weapon Case" before that case was removed from active drop pools, significantly limiting new supply. CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web is not found as a Souvenir drop, which further restricts its availability.

Rarity of ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web is enhanced by both its low drop odds—estimated at less than 0.3% chance per case opening—and its popularity among collectors and players. Factory New and Minimal Wear versions are especially scarce, while lower wears are a bit more available but still extremely desired. Its absence from current drop rotations and impossibility to obtain directly via Souvenir packages means that existing supply can only be traded or bought from the community, which causes prices to remain high.

★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web finish features a deep red blade adorned with distinct black webbing patterns, creating a striking, menacing look. Each knife has a unique web pattern placement, and ideal corner webbing can escalate its value.

Pattern difference
Not all Crimson Webs are equal—the most valuable ones have centered, complete webs near the tip or pivot. Collectors particularly covet these rare patterns.

The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web float value ranges from 0.06 to 0.80, making the skin available in all wear levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred.

Effect of float
Higher float values cause more visible wear, especially around the edges and webbing. Collector-grade pieces have low floats and minimal scratches.

Factory New
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Factory New is the rarest and most expensive version, with pristine color and webbing. Prices for these can soar well above $10,000 due to extreme scarcity.

Minimal Wear
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Minimal Wear also fetches a high price, though it may show slight edge wear. This option retains most of the original finish and costs several thousand dollars.

Field-Tested
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Field Tested introduces noticeable wear, especially around the tip and edges, but is a bit more accessible than top-tier wears, appealing to those who want the design at a lower entry cost.

Well-Worn
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Well Worn displays considerable fading and scratches, with the web pattern often dulled but still visible. It offers a balance between price and collectability.

Battle-Scarred
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web Battle Scarred shows heavy wear, fading, and blemishes. While it is the most affordable, owning one is still a status symbol.

StatTrak™ versions
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web StatTrak is available for all wear levels, featuring a kill counter on the handle. StatTrak variants command a significant premium, especially in Factory New and Minimal Wear, due to their extreme rarity and desirability.

In summary, ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web float value and pattern quality are critical influencers of price, especially when combined with StatTrak technology.
