The History of the ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel in CS2 (CS:GO)

The ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel in CS2 (CS:GO) was designed in Valve's workshop and made its debut on January 8, 2015, as part of the Chroma Case collection. The skin was crafted by Valve's internal artists, who were inspired by the real-world Damascus steel technique known for its legendary strength and wavy metal patterns. Its first appearances in the game quickly grabbed the attention of both casual and competitive players. The skin gained immense traction during CS:GO Majors, where prominent players showcased the stunning finish during high-stakes matches.

Community hype peaked during periods of increased interest in knife unboxings, making the CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel a coveted prize among luck-driven and strategic traders alike. Transitioning into Counter-Strike 2, the knife’s visual fidelity was further enhanced, elevating its desirability and solidifying its status as an iconic skin. Its popularity continues to thrive, as players admire its craftsmanship, in-game prestige, and rich historical presence throughout the Counter-Strike franchise.

How Rare Is the ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel?

Rarity of ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel is classified as Covert in the knife category. The skin can be unboxed from the Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case, and Chroma 3 Case, making it available but still quite rare due to the extremely low probability of obtaining a knife from any given chest. The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel has never been available as a Souvenir drop, and the cases it appears in are still in circulation, although supplies grow scarcer over time as cases are opened or removed from active drops. While the unboxing odds for knives in general are around 0.26%, getting this specific finish is even lower, making each acquisition notable. Despite its rarity, the skin remains one of the more popular knife choices for its sleek, minimalistic look and recognizable pattern among the Counter-Strike community.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description
The ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel finish features a blade adorned with mesmerizing, wavy metallic lines, created by layering two types of steel. This gives each skin a slightly unique pattern, so collectors often search for specific pattern indices that may display more visually dynamic waves.

Effect of float
The CS2 (CS:GO) ★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel float value ranges from 0.00 to 0.50, allowing the skin to drop in all standard wear levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel factory new
Factory New (0.00–0.08 float) shows a flawless finish, with a polished and bright blade, minimal if any signs of wear. It is considered most desirable and therefore commands the highest price.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel minimal wear
Minimal Wear (0.08–0.15 float) retains much of the original shine with only minor blemishing. For most players, the differences from Factory New are hardly noticeable.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel Field-Tested
Field-Tested (0.15–0.38 float) begins to show slight dulling of the steel's finish. Some scratches become visible, but the overall wavy Damascus pattern remains clear and attractive.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel well worn
Well-Worn (0.38–0.45 float) displays more obvious surface scratches and a dimmer appearance. Some pattern intricacies can become less distinct.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel Battle Scarred
Battle-Scarred (0.45–0.50 float) reveals significant fading, heavy scratches, and a generally aged look. Although this is the most affordable, it is less sought after by collectors.

★ Bayonet | Damascus Steel StatTrak
The StatTrak™ versions of all wears are significantly more valuable. StatTrak adds a kill counter, making the skin more exclusive. StatTrak versions are rarer on the market, especially in Factory New and Minimal Wear conditions.

Pattern difference
Each skin has a slightly different wave pattern due to the randomized pattern index on unboxing.

Skin features
No stickers can be applied to knives, but the finish, float, and StatTrak status greatly affect desirability and price.
