The History of the AWP | Pit Viper in CS2 (CS:GO)

The AWP | Pit Viper was designed by the artist known as Valcano and was initially introduced to the game as part of the Bravo Collection in September 2013, during Operation Bravo in CS:GO. The skin became a subtle icon due to its timeless, snake-like green pattern and soon became recognized within the community as an accessible yet stylish option for AWP users.

The AWP | Pit Viper in CS2 (CS:GO) cemented its place in history through multiple CS:GO Majors, especially given its accessibility in the now-vaulted Bravo Case. The skin gained traction and nostalgia as a frequent choice among players who opened Bravo cases during the Major hype, leading to increased visibility in professional play and streams.

As CS2 launched, the CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Pit Viper found renewed relevance among both collectors and players. Its rarity increased as the Bravo Collection became less available, and the community continued to hype its classic status due to its unique origin. Today, the Pit Viper remains a popular and valuable legacy skin, often referenced in discussions about rare early Counter-Strike skins.

How Rare Is the AWP | Pit Viper?

The AWP | Pit Viper in CS2 (CS:GO) is a Restricted rarity skin, ranking as a purple-tier item within the Bravo Collection. The CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Pit Viper could originally only be obtained from the Operation Bravo weapon case or by completing collection contracts involving Bravo skins. Since the Bravo Case was discontinued in 2014 and removed from the active drop pool, the skin's availability has diminished, leading to a slow rise in rarity over time.

Rarity of AWP | Pit Viper is also increased by the lack of new Bravo Case supply, making each unboxed version more unique and potentially more valuable.

The probability of unboxing a Pit Viper is about 16% per Bravo Case, among all Restricted skins, but souvenir versions were never officially available, limiting some collectible forms. Despite its lower price, its nostalgic value retains significant popularity among veteran players.
