The History of the AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO)

AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) was created by Valve's in-house art team and made its initial appearance as part of the 2021 Control Collection, which debuted with the Operation Broken Fang update in December 2020. Inspired by the iconic Fade pattern, already a fan favorite on knives and pistols, the CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Fade quickly became the highlight of the collection due to its mesmerizing color gradient and the high prestige associated with Fade finishes. Unlike many other legendary AWP skins, the AWP | Fade’s journey to fame was fueled by massive community hype and fascination, particularly during and after key CS:GO Majors when it was featured in numerous tournament highlight reels and content creator videos. Although it was not directly tied to souvenir drops from Majors, its rarity and eye-catching design led to skyrocketing demand. When Counter-Strike transitioned to CS2, the AWP | Fade maintained—and even increased—its popularity as the skin’s vibrant finish was further accentuated by the updated Source 2 engine. The AWP | Fade remains a status symbol for both players and collectors, anchoring its legacy as a true modern classic in the CS2 skin market.

How Rare Is the AWP | Fade?

The AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) is considered one of the rarest AWP skins, belonging to the Covert rarity tier. The CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Fade drops exclusively from the highly limited Control Collection, with no cases or regular drop pool access, and can only be obtained by opening Control Collection packages. With the collection's removal from Operation Broken Fang, new supply has been severely limited, increasing the skin's rarity and value. The rarity of AWP | Fade means the probability of unboxing one is extremely low, and unlike some other legendary AWP skins, there is no Souvenir version available, making certain pattern and float combinations even more desirable. As a result, this skin enjoys immense popularity and consistently trades at premium prices due to its exclusivity.

AWP | Fade Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description:
The AWP | Fade finish showcases a flawless metallic gradient, shifting from vibrant pinks to purples and golds, making every weapon unique in its visual blend. While pattern index is less crucial than on some Fade knives, higher color coverage (particularly those with more gold) is preferred.

Effect of float:
The AWP | Fade float value significantly affects both its appearance and price. Its available float value range is limited (commonly between 0.00–0.08), restricting the skin to only Factory New and Minimal Wear conditions, making these wear levels even scarcer.

AWP | Fade Factory New:
Factory New versions of AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) are prized for their immaculate surface, maximizing the shine and gradient of the AWP | Fade finish. With the tightest float restrictions (typically 0.00–0.07), these command the highest prices—often thousands of dollars—and are the preferred choice for collectors.

AWP | Fade Minimal Wear:
Minimal Wear versions are nearly indistinguishable from Factory New to the untrained eye. These feature floats just over the Factory New max, maintaining vivid fade effects with only the slightest micro-wear at the edges. Prices are slightly lower but still among the most expensive AWP skins.

AWP | Fade Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred:
Due to float restrictions, AWP | Fade Field Tested, AWP | Fade Well Worn, and AWP | Fade Battle Scarred do not exist in the game. If they did, significant wear would dull the gradient, but their absence makes the Factory New and Minimal Wear variants even more exclusive.

AWP | Fade StatTrak™:
There is currently no StatTrak™ version of the AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO). Collectors seeking rare kill-tracking capabilities will have to opt for another AWP skin.

Skin Features:
The AWP | Fade is valued for its reflection, gradient, and iconic status—making float value, pattern, and condition crucial for collectors aiming for pristine or rare color combinations.

AWP | Fade Price & Market Value

AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO) consistently ranks among the most valuable sniper skins on the market. As of mid-2024, the AWP | Fade price for Factory New versions ranges between $2,000 and $3,500, while Minimal Wear versions trade for slightly less—around $1,700 to $2,800—depending on float and color coverage. There are no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred versions due to the limited float range. The AWP | Fade price can also escalate with desirable stickers or extremely low float values. Souvenir versions do not exist, so there are no premium-boosted "pro signature" editions on the market. Market factors that influence the AWP | Fade price include demand among collectors, float value, pattern index, and inventory scarcity following the removal of Control Collection packages. How much is the AWP | Fade? Its hefty price reflects its rarity, aesthetics, and demand. Is AWP | Fade worth buying? For players and collectors looking for a standout investment, this skin remains a legendary choice.

What Is the Souvenir AWP | Fade

While Souvenir skins are special commemorative versions dropped during CS:GO Major tournaments and often feature autographs from pro players like s1mple, dev1ce, or GuardiaN, there is no Souvenir version of AWP | Fade in CS2 (CS:GO). The CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Fade is only available through standard Control Collection drops, making rare collectible Souvenir editions with Major stickers unavailable for this skin. No record-breaking Souvenir AWP | Fade sales or auctions have been recorded, as the skin does not exist in this format.
