What Is the AWP | Containment Breach?

The AWP | Containment Breach mixes high-risk gameplay with a visual style that feels straight out of a toxic wasteland. Known for its one-shot kill potential, the AWP is already a weapon that gets attention, and this skin turns that up even more. The design shows a forest taken over by radiation, where mutated rats crawl through glowing green fog and tangled undergrowth.

This skin was first released on November 18th, 2019, as part of the "Operation Shattered Web" update. It belongs to the Shattered Web Collection and has a float range that runs from 0.00 to 1.00. That means you can find it in all five wear levels, which helps players choose between visual condition and affordability.

The History of the AWP | Containment Breach in CS2 (CS:GO)

The AWP | Containment Breach made a strong impression from the moment it arrived in CS:GO. Its radioactive green color scheme, paired with the toxic biohazard imagery and crawling mutant creatures, gave it a wild post-apocalyptic vibe that players hadn’t seen before. This artwork takes over the entire rifle, and its wild style is hard to miss once the match starts.

This skin turned heads for its intense design, and its use in pro matches helped it catch on even more. Players like s1mple, shox, and nitr0 have all used the Containment Breach on big stages, and that helped it gain even more popularity.

As the game evolved into CS2, the skin continued to appear in inventories and highlight clips, which helped it remain relevant. This AWP skin keeps coming up in conversations thanks to its striking appearance and the way it stays with you after a match.

How Rare Is the AWP | Containment Breach?

The AWP | Containment Breach holds Covert rarity, placing it among the rarest sniper skins available in CS2. This skin first showed up during the Operation Shattered Web update and quickly caught the attention of players. As a Covert-tier drop, the chance of pulling any Covert skin from a Shattered Web Case is only about 0.64%. But the specific chance of getting the AWP | Containment Breach is half of 0.32%.

You can also find a StatTrak version of the AWP | Containment Breach, which tracks your in-game kills. These variants are even harder to get because the chance of unboxing a AWP | Containment Breach StatTrak version is 10%. This makes them more expensive and even more exclusive, especially in lower wear levels, such as AWP | Containment Breach Factory New or Minimal Wear.

AWP | Containment Breach Wear Levels and Conditions

CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Containment Breach has a wide float range from 0.00 to 1.00, which means it's available in every condition from Factory New to Battle-Scarred. Factory New skins fall between 0.00 and 0.07, offering the crispest look with minimal wear. At a float between 0.07 and 0.15, Minimal Wear versions hold onto most of the original design. Field-Tested ranges from 0.15 to 0.38 and shows more visible wear, but keeps its unique design readable.

Well-Worn sits between 0.38 and 0.45, while Battle-Scarred stretches from 0.45 up to 1.00, with heavier fading and scratches. Even in lower conditions, the biohazard-inspired design still holds visual weight, which helps this skin stay relevant across all wear levels.

AWP | Containment Breach Price & Market Value

The AWP | Containment Breach isn’t exactly budget-friendly, but it offers a unique style that many players are still willing to pay for. When the skin is Factory New and has a low float, expect to see it listed above $390. Minimal Wear versions sell for $150, while Field-Tested drops to around $70. If you’re looking for a more accessible option, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred versions can be found for $50 or less.

StatTrak models cost more across the board, with Factory New StatTrak versions reaching well above $700. Minimal Wear StatTrak often falls around $250, and even Field-Tested StatTrak options stay near $150, which shows how strong the demand is. If you're after lower-tier options, StatTrak Well-Worn averages about $115, while StatTrak Battle-Scarred sits close to $120. These prices shift based on float value and sometimes on stickers or pro signatures, but the Containment Breach has held its position as a highly valued skin in the AWP lineup.

Why is AWP | Containment Breach So Popular?

The AWP | Containment Breach is popular for its vivid radioactive green theme and chaotic energy. You’ve got glowing wolves and creepy forest details all packed into one skin, which makes it feel way more intense than most sniper options out there. It’s wild but not messy, and that darker style gives it a cool presence during play that a lot of players go for.

This skin matches well with gloves like Hydra Gloves | Rattler or Sport Gloves | Pandora’s Box, which mirror the green tones and help complete the aesthetic. Stickers such as Nuke Hollow or Biohazard foil ones blend in naturally and keep the theme consistent.

Players who enjoy distinctive visuals and high-impact weapon skins often choose this one to refresh their AWP slot. It's a good example of how you can buy CS2 (CS:GO) skins that hold up visually and still feel special round after round.

What Is the Souvenir AWP | Containment Breach

Unlike some of the legendary AWP skins, there is currently no Souvenir version of AWP | Containment Breach in CS2 (CS:GO). The CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Containment Breach was never available as a Souvenir drop from any Major tournament events. As a result, you won't find any gold-stamped, pro-autographed, or special tournament commemorated versions of this skin. This absence makes the standard and StatTrak™ versions the only available choices for fans and collectors.

Famous Players & Streamers with AWP | Containment Breach

AWP | Containment Breach has caught the eye of several famous esports pros and popular streamers due to its unique, radioactive design. Notably, pro players such as s1mple and dev1ce have been spotted using this skin in high-stakes matches, while influential streamers like Anomaly and ohnePixel have showcased it in their inventory reviews or skin unboxings. The involvement of such top-tier figures has elevated the skin's profile, contributing to its ongoing popularity and desirability within the community.

Alternatives to AWP | Containment Breach

This is not the only AWP skin, but if you want to explore other options, there are a few skins that offer different takes on visual intensity and style. One that comes close in look and feel is the AWP | Hyper Beast. It’s packed with color and creature art that feels straight out of a neon nightmare. It shares the same surreal, aggressive energy but leans more toward sci-fi than biohazard.

You’ve also got the iconic AWP | Dragon Lore. It doesn’t follow the same theme, but its medieval dragon look and hard-to-get reputation have made it a status symbol for years. For those who like cleaner lines and mythical elements, the AWP | Gungnir offers icy blue detailing and Norse-inspired elegance, making it another high-tier favorite among collectors.

On the affordable end, the AWP | Atheris brings a venomous snake theme in bright blues and greens. And if you want something a little more playful, the AWP | PAW covers the rifle in colorful paw prints, offering a completely different tone while still standing out visually in matches. These alternatives all let you express style in-game, just in their distinct ways.

How to Get a AWP | Containment Breach

There are many ways you can get your hands on the CS2 (CS:GO) AWP | Containment Breach. The most classic method is by opening the Shattered Web Case. You’ll need a Shattered Web Case Key, which costs around $6.50.
