The History of the AUG | Steel Sentinel in CS2 (CS:GO)

The AUG | Steel Sentinel in CS2 (CS:GO) was created by community designer Mysterion and was released as part of the Gamma 2 Case on August 18, 2016. This skin was introduced during the final years of CS:GO and became an instant favorite due to its futuristic, armor-inspired style.

It found particular fame during several CS:GO Majors, where professional players began to showcase the skin, further elevating its status among competitive scenes and collectors. During its earliest days, the community buzzed with excitement, celebrating its crisp metallic appearance and industrial motif.

With the transition into CS2, the CS2 (CS:GO) AUG | Steel Sentinel retained its popularity, as players appreciated its seamless graphical enhancement and consistent presence in gameplay. The skin’s consistent demand and solid fan following from pro use and collection preferences make it a sought-after item with both historical value and current appeal.

How Rare Is the AUG | Steel Sentinel?

The AUG | Steel Sentinel in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Classified rarity skin, making it one of the rarer AUG finishes available. It is obtainable exclusively from the Gamma 2 Case, and is not currently available as a drop from active loot pools, increasing its scarcity over time. The CS2 (CS:GO) AUG | Steel Sentinel does not have a Souvenir version, and as a Classified skin, the probability of unboxing it is low, with approximate odds around 3.2% for classified tier skins in a case.

The rarity of AUG | Steel Sentinel is accentuated by its stylish look and continued demand among players seeking high-quality AUG options. Due to its vaulting from modern case rotations, supply is limited to resales on the Steam Market and third-party platforms, driving further interest among collectors and fans.

Skin Features
This skin is available in StatTrak™ versions, allowing players to track eliminations on their weapon and adding to its collection appeal.

Wear Levels Explained:
AUG | Steel Sentinel Factory New: Pristine and virtually unblemished, Factory New offers the sharpest colors and full original detailing. It commands the highest price, appealing most to collectors.
AUG | Steel Sentinel Minimal Wear: Minor marks may be visible upon close inspection, but overall the design remains bold and fresh. Slightly more affordable than Factory New.
AUG | Steel Sentinel Field Tested: Noticeable wear along the edges and on metallic surfaces, but still retains most of the pattern's appeal. It is a popular budget option.
AUG | Steel Sentinel Well Worn: Shows more substantial wear—scratches and fading increase while blue highlights and metal accents lose luster. Often chosen for affordability over aesthetics.
AUG | Steel Sentinel Battle Scarred: Heavily worn with significant surface scratches and dulling, but the core design remains recognizable. Many budget players prefer this option.
AUG | Steel Sentinel StatTrak™: Available at all above wear levels, the AUG | Steel Sentinel StatTrak versions come with a digital kill tracker, often fetching a premium price compared to non-StatTrak™ skins due to added prestige and functionality.
