The History of the AK-47 | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO)

The AK-47 | Case Hardened was designed by Valve and introduced on August 14, 2013, with the Arms Deal Update, which marked the beginning of weapon skins in Counter-Strike. This finish stands out due to its uniquely randomized case hardening patterns—each AK-47 | Case Hardened is genuinely one-of-a-kind, with some patterns featuring large amounts of vibrant blue (the famed "blue gem") making them particularly sought after.

The skin quickly gained notoriety during CS:GO Majors, with professional players showcasing especially rare "blue gem" versions on LAN, sparking enormous community interest and speculation about pattern values. Throughout different CS:GO eras, collectors and traders have put a premium on certain pattern indexes, leading to auction-level sales and global trade hype.

With the transition to CS2, AK-47 | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) retained and even grew its status, thanks to updated lighting and shading making the unique patterns even more visually appealing. The CS2 (CS:GO) AK-47 | Case Hardened remains a symbol of rarity, luck, and status in the skin trading community, consistently pulling high prices and intense demand.

How Rare Is the AK-47 | Case Hardened?

The AK-47 | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) is classified as a Classified rifle skin, making it one of the most difficult AK-47 skins to obtain from its original drop pool. The CS2 (CS:GO) AK-47 | Case Hardened was exclusively available from the now-discontinued CS:GO weapon case (original "Case Hardened" Collection), meaning it cannot be unboxed from new cases today. This boosts the Rarity of AK-47 | Case Hardened significantly as supply is fixed.

The odds of unboxing a factory new or high-float blue gem variant are exceedingly low, and there are no Souvenir AK-47 | Case Hardened skins available at all, making those rare pattern indices even more desirable. Its popularity has never waned, remaining a status item for traders and players, with only a highly limited supply originating from the original cases. As a result, the AK-47 | Case Hardened is one of the most coveted and rarest AK skins in CS2.

AK-47 | Case Hardened Wear Levels and Conditions

Pattern description:
The AK-47 | Case Hardened finish showcases a randomized case-hardened metal effect, featuring vibrant splashes of blue, gold, and purple across the rifle's body. Every skin is unique due to pattern index differences, and the rarest variants ("blue gems") contain large blue areas on the main body.

Pattern difference:
Each AK-47 | Case Hardened in CS2 (CS:GO) displays a unique pattern index. Players prize the high blue-coverage patterns above all, which command massive premium prices compared to standard mixes of gold and purple.

Effect of float:
AK-47 | Case Hardened float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00, offering Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred wears. The AK-47 | Case Hardened float value not only affects wear but also price and desirability—low-float (Factory New) blue gem patterns are the most valuable.

Wear level breakdown:
Factory New: The AK-47 | Case Hardened Factory New has minimal to no visible scratches, allowing the colors to pop vividly. These are extremely rare and the most expensive versions, especially in blue gem patterns.
Minimal Wear: AK-47 | Case Hardened Minimal Wear skins show slight edge wear but retain most color brilliance. They are more common than Factory New but still command high prices, particularly for desirable patterns.
Field-Tested: AK-47 | Case Hardened Field Tested shows moderate wear and scratches, dulling the finish. While prices drop, rare patterns maintain notable value.
Well-Worn: AK-47 | Case Hardened Well Worn exhibits significant abrasions with increased faded areas; however, distinct patterns can still keep values strong among pattern collectors.
Battle-Scarred: AK-47 | Case Hardened Battle Scarred skins have heavy wear and faded colors, but blue gem patterns can still fetch a premium.
StatTrak™ versions: AK-47 | Case Hardened StatTrak adds kill tracking to any wear level. Similar to regular versions, blue gem StatTraks in good condition can reach astronomical prices.

Overall, the AK-47 | Case Hardened finish, AK-47 | Case Hardened float value, and StatTrak status all play crucial roles in determining scarcity and price.
